I personally have not had it done but my best friend had it done.
The same doc that is doing my surgery did hers . I will be honest with you he is very very strict about it and sometimes he wont even do it.
You have to have a very good reason why you want the lapband after gastric., and you have to show that you did lose weight on the gastric.
He agreed to do hers becasue she did lose 124 pounds the first yr with the gastric, but she got preg, and well once you stretch the stomach back out the gastric is about useless that is what her previous doc told her and from what others have told me.
She gained about 74 pounds back alot of it has to do after she had the baby she was just like the rest of everybody else normal stomach and so forth.
I think it would depend on your surgeon there are some out there that wont do it at all, but then there are some like mine that will do it but you best have a very darn good reason as to why you want it done.
My friend had it done last yr and sadly to say she only has lost 40 pounds and that is with 13 pound pre op diet she lost. But, she just dont follow the rules either and has not had a fill since the second month of surgery .
that is a good idea never thought of that . also a friend of mine till she got use to eating slow and what the amount of food should look like your silverware she ate with a baby spoon and fork she said that really helped.
Also I know this has nothing to do with eating smaller but my NUT recommened goign to get a toddler plate from Walmart to eat off.
It's actually very neat time I cut my meat up and measure it a 1/2 cup of protein fits in that half of the plate perfect and so does 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup veggies/carbs for the other two sections
I ate it off it the other night ot see and it really helps with your brain that you are getting a full plate of food
Like another poster said after care that is the most important. there is quite a few docs that dont like to touch other people's work so before you have your surgery I would make sure I have a doctor close to me that will take care of me afterwards for emergencies, fills, unfills and things like that .
or unless you plan on travelling back to Mexico for after care.
forgot to write what i like lol.
I like the wheat Sandwich thins. I have now swtiched over to that. Plus Im hoping because its realy thin bread and I toast it , it wont give me problems if I do eat a slice of it.
I dont know about the oz part I was told not to weight my food because its more about volume then weight now .
Im suppose to follow 1/2 cup of protein per meal and I cut it up to where I can eat it and measure that way , 1/4 cup of veggies and 1/4 cup of carbs if I chose to or another 1/4 cup of veggies .
Everything cut up first then measure.
If everything is okay with my band I should be able to get a cup of food down no problems and be full . That is why he stresses to me to measure not weight.
