Topic: RE: Feedback about banding from my doc.

I'm not surprised to read that most of the problems that NHS treat come from patients who came from self pay private facilities and/or patients who are poorly educated about the band.
Great post!

Topic: RE: Pros of lapband
Well, I've lost 63 pounds in 9 months and so far, am doing great.  'Nuff said.
Topic: RE: Could someone ask Nic for me.......

HAHAHA you make me laugh!!  Why does everyone on this forum fret about who or why someone has them blocked??

It should make you feel warm and fuzzy that I haven't blocked you....yet   (teeheehee)

Seriously, I'm beach bound for the next week so who knows what drama I'll miss, but I'll betcha she'll have you unblocked by then.

Tootles!!

That's right, Nance!

You have the right to give your advice, just like everyone else does.   Unfortunately, only those of us who like our bands are having success with our bands are the ones being made to feel as if we know NOTHING about the band.  Ironic, isn't it??

That's something to be proud of!!

Great post!

Being proactive with your aftercare is invaluable information.

NanaB. --

I got that software.  I'll get it installed tonight.  I may need help, though, so my IT buddy will be on call to help me out.  Your suspicions will be confirmed (one way or the other)

Topic: RE: snark

What are your stats?  How much weight do you hope to lose?

The soft foods/mushies was one of the hardest phases for me!!  Hang in there!

Topic: RE: snark
I see you're new.

When did you have your surgery?  Are you recovering well?
Topic: RE: snark
The  people that have been excluded from the new forum know exactly why they are excluded. Despite what they say, it has nothing to do with their insights on the band--good or bad.   All you have to do is read their posts,  and in many cases, their responses to posts (such as your own) to understand why they're not being included.  I encourage you to join the new forum.  I think you'll find the atmosphere a lot more "lighter".

Sabina-- I just sent you a private message.

Very attractive--but you're much better looking now.

Just a reminder, this group is up and running and growing!

There's going to be a very interesting topic posted later this morning that I'm sure all you will be interested in--especially the newly banded!

If you want to join, and you like or love your band, and you want to learn how to make the band work for you--then JOIN.

If you hate your band,or have lost your band, and as a result of your experience you now encourage others to NOT get the band, then you shouldn't join this group.

You won't be subject to negativity in general!  Only positive, cheerful, truthful and sincere information from many banders who actually like their bands and are having success!!  You should join!!

For example:  you can post a picture and not have to worry about being accused of posting a fake photo or have the background scrutinized
Topic: RE: already banders........need advice/help please
BeachBunny- I had to edit my response to you!  I meant to say "I don't see why that would be harmful"  Sorry!!

Glad you're feeling better!
Topic: RE: already banders........need advice/help please
I wonder why the Dr. told you not to?

I don't see why that would be harmful to you.  You have to do what you got to do!  Did it help?  Do you feel better?
Topic: RE: For those who have just gotten "banded" or for those considering getting "banded"
I think you're absolutely right.  The flouro, I think, is probably a great way to verify that everything is where it should be and the pouch is "healthy", etc, but as far as how accurate it is for keeping a patient filled at the perfect level is a bit unreliable.

As Ive stated before, and I'm sure you and everyone else know, the stomach moves around.  From hour to hour and day to day, those slight movements cause the band to feel tighter or loser depending on where the stomach has settled.  I'm not suggesting these are HUGE movements, in fact, they're probably very slight, but those little variances can f**k up the way the band works at times--too tight--or too loose!

Or at least, that's my experience.  But I keep losing weight, so I guess that's the way its supposed to work.  But of course, the whole point of my original post was to make sure everyone who gets a band continues with their aftercare, even if they don't think they need an adjustment anymore.  The individual's health is numero uno.
Topic: RE: For those who have just gotten "banded" or for those considering getting "banded"
You're right--maybe a barium swallow, annually,  is what I should have stated.

You've never had  a fill under a flouro?  Whoa!
That's very impressive--did you have a lot of tiny fills the first year or so?  Did you ever feel like you were too tight or not tight enough?

My experience with the flouro is that it is so objective, but how you feel and what the flouro "says" doesn't always compute, which is more subjective.  Does that make sense what I just said??
Topic: RE: For those who have just gotten "banded" or for those considering getting "banded"
You're right.  You make some very good points!  Thanks, Maria F!
Topic: RE: 10 days post op

I feel your pain  One of the hardest parts of the journey thus far, for me, was the 3 weeks post-op.

No food.  Only liquids.  The first week was easy.  My stomach was swollen so I didn't have an appetite. The 2nd week I started getting hungry, but could satisfy it with the protein shakes.  The 3rd week, I was DREAMING about food!

Its not natural to not eat.  It just isn't!

Just keep your eye on the prize!  You can do it!

Topic: RE: 4 years out, about 150lbs down (pics)
WOW!  you look wonderful!  Congratulations!  Your experience is very inspiring and uplifting!  And congratulations on the baby!
Topic: RE: ate some tomato soup
The worst pain I ever felt after surgery was when I sipped on hot chicken broth--O.M.G.  I thought I was having a heart attack!

Later I found out that that was normal --I can't remember if it was the diaphragm that was heat and cold sensitive or something else, but I was told to keep my fluids at room temp. for a while.

It gets better! Hang in there!
Topic: RE: According to a few "know it alls"....on both ends!

I feel so fortunate and I feel like I could offer so much help and advice--but it is so hard to stay focused on the forum.

I hope you are doing well on your weight loss journey!
Topic: RE: I am an old member that has not posted in a while
Congratulations on your baby!

You should go to the Dr.--not to get a fill necessarily, but maybe to make sure your band hasn't slipped.

Now Listen to me. Don't you EVER be ashamed of yourself!!  It's just weight.   You'll find a way to get it off.  You're a mother and a wife!  And it sounds like your husband is in the military?!  How blessed are you??  Very!

Get to the Dr. and make sure your band is still functioning correctly, then baby steps, OK??
