Dr. Curry (affectionately known here on ObesityHelp as “Dr. C”) is a board-certified general surgeon who specializes in minimally invasive weight loss surgery. He is a Cincinnati native and trained at Good Samaritan Hospital. He has performed nearly 1000 laparoscopic gastric bands and bypasses, making him one of the most experienced in the region at the laparoscopic technique. Dr. Curry has done more LAP-BAND ® System procedures than any other surgeon in Ohio, and he is the only surgeon in the region who has been chosen by Inamed (the manufacturer of the LAP-BAND ® System) to be a proctor to teach other surgeons to do the procedure.  He is also very experienced at surgical endoscopy for band patients and is frequently consulted for assistance with management of other surgeons’ patients in this regard.

Dr. Curry is very passionate about the proper care of Lap Band patients and his practice is specifically tailored to their management.  Patients are educated from the beginning that the operation is simply “the tip of the iceberg” and what happens AFTER surgery is much more important for long-term success.  He has a well-known banded registered dietitian, Erin, who has lost 100% of her excess body weight and speaks both from a personal and professional standpoint.  His wife is also banded, as are several other members of his staff.  He and his experienced team provide aftercare for patients from all over the country. 

In his spare time he plays the mandolin and fiddle in a local bluegrass band called The Grasstains, giving his moniker “The Band Doctor” a dual meaning!
