Getting my name in here.I'm a 300 lb LPN who is excited about having the surgery.I am scheduled for initial consult with Dr. Huse on the 8th.Now I'm looking for the bucks to pay .I may have to quit my job of twenty years that I love to find one that offers major medical ins.Since my husband is disabled someone told me I could apply for Medicaid, but there would be a waiting list. Any way I'm looking for options.I hope more LPN's find and use this messageboard.

Well Beth, it's good to see you here! I was beginning to think I was the only lpn on this sight! Congrats on your decision to check into this surgery. I do know that medicaid will pay for the surgery,at least in Illinois and Kentucky. There are always patients in my doc's office that are medicaid pts. As for changing jobs to get an insurance that covers it, good luck! I've been trying for 5 years, almost 6 now to get this done and this is the first insurance I've had that would cover it. It seems STUPID that ins wouldn't cover it! It just saves them money on claims. Anyway, what part of Indiana are you from? I lived in New Albany for 4 years and my husband still does. He works for Caesar's casino there. Well, good luck to you! Donna

Sorry about the delay in answering,so much going on right now. I'm from a little berg called Diamond it's about 2 miles south of Bridgeton(Have you ever been to the Covered Bridge Festival?) Anyway it's so small it's not considered a town anymore so we have a Carbon address.Initial consultation was very informative and Dr. Huse seemed nice. But I ran into a snag. I had asked for a referral from my cardioligist. He won't give me a referral without doing a heart cath first. My nuclear stress test was not perfect so he wants to make sure I don' t have any blockages. Heart disease runs in my family Big Time so I'm pretty nervous about it.I'm going to check into self paying since Dr. Huse doesn't do Medicaid, but Ihave to wait for the heart cath results to go any further.I'll update when I find out.My husband had quadruple heart bypass a year ago . He got his disability,so he's a retired tractor mechanic.
