Here in South Jersey, it's prime blueberry season. I don't pick 'em anymore. Rather, I just go to my favorite farm and buy them by the 10 lb box ( i.e., 10 pts ). We bought 20 lbs on Thurs and will share them with my folks and bro and my wife's mother and bro. It's my favorite time of the year.
Soon we'll be having sweet corn and the famous Jersey tomatoes. Lots of people grow their own but I think that's a wasted effort. By the time they're ripe, everyone has ripe tomatoes and you get loads of them for free.
NJ has made a major effort to have local farmers' markets even in the major cities. NJ is pushing their theme of Jersey Fresh! Hey, it is the Garden State. I live in Burlington County and we still have horse farms, vegetable and fruit farms, and several State Forests and the Pinelands Preserve.
