This Week's Stats (lbs):
506.5: All time high 9/9/9 (WW start) - BMI = 63.3
492.4: Tufts Medical Center Program Start 9/20/10
462.5: Lap RNY Surgery day 2/7/11
312.0: Last Week 1/29/12
312.4: This Week 2/5/12 --> 0.4 Pounds Gained this week - BMI = 39.0
194.1 lbs Total Weight Loss

Well the scales were flat on this, the final week of my first year post weight loss surgery. I'm resolved to the fact that without a very strict low carb diet and a lot of exercise that I won't be seeing any big number losses on the scale week to week. I am ok with this as I feel the best that I have in my adult life and am still exercising more than I have been probably ever!! I'm going to post with a full first year's retrospective (with some photos) on my anniversary date (2/7/12). At least that's my plan!!

Hope everyone has a great week and Go Pats!!

P.S.
Try to keep your superbowl snacks in moderation and mindfully eat!!

9/9/09: Highest Weight: 506.5 lbs              9/20/10:  Tufts Start Weight: 492.4 lbs

Stats:
Highest weight: 315
Start weight: 1/2011 305
Tufts start weight May 2011: 285
Surgery weight-7/5/2011: 265
Weight last Sunday Weigh-in: 183 Current Weight: 182 Goal Weight: 170ish
Lbs. lost this week: 1
Total loss from start weight: 123 LBS.!!

A slight downward movement this week- I feel like this is probably the bottom end of the decent decline from last wee****il my metabolism gets around to kicking in again. So busy at work I wound up having a protein bar for lunch a couple of days this week. I did make it to the gym 3 times this week. I need today to recharge my batteries and do some gratuitous house work.

I got my 6 month lab results back. Iron levels are up but it says my absorbtion level is low. Do different types of iron absorb differently? It might be a question for the hospital. Everything else looks ok.

I have tons of energy lately.  I feel pretty good and am getting used to the lifestyle changes I have adopted. Smart food choices grocery shopping and dining out have become automatic.

That is it for this week.. GO PATS!!

Highest: 407 lb
Surgery: 5/17/10
Last week: 180.0 lb
This week: 182.4 lb
Fluctuation this week: +2.4 lb
Total loss: 224.6 lb

A second week of small gain; however this puts me right at the center of my comfort level 180-185 lb mark. I'll need to watch diet closely to make certain the upward movement does not become a trend.

The next couple of weeks may be a test of sorts for me. I have a going away party for my son, who is moving to Virginia Beach for a new job. Then, Saturday morning, I leave for a 5 day vacation. Being off schedule can be an issue for me, so I'll need some extra vigilance during this time.

Hope you all have a great week and that your team recovers all the fumbles this afternoon.

Good Morning Fellow Losers,

Well, the Super Bowl is finally here!!! I hate that 2 week time in between Championship games and the Super Bowl, but for the Pats it was a good thing to get Gronk healthy enough to play. I see a really good tight game but the Pats pull it out 27-24!!

In any event here are my stats:
High:  346
Surgery (12/27/10):  326
BMI=52
Last Week: 199
Today:  198; BMI 29
Total Loss:  148

I continue to be about 2-3 pounds of 200. Now that I am well over a year post op have resigned myself to the reality that biggest weight loss is over and am now in maintenance. If that is the case, I am very happy. I feel amazing physically and can do things that I have not been able to do for most of my adult life.

Still, trying to be consistent by doing the following:
Drink 64 oz water daily
Food Logging and keeping daily calorie intake at between 1300 and 1500
Exercising 4-5 times a week

One question for the group:  In your experiences, when did your weight loss stabilize and go in to maintenance: 6 months; 9 months; 12 months; 18 months???

I slowed down dramatically at about four months but kept on losing for over a year.  The slowing down is a good thing in a way.  It gives you head time to catch up to your saggy ass!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

175.5: 3 rd Surgiversary (his scales in shorts and t-shirt)
167.6: Last week
166.6: This week (GF's scales)

Bouncing around within my tolerances.  Because of still being a body short at work my schedule has been radically altered from the norm for the duration.  Needless to say I'll have to adjust accordingly.  No problem not going to work till after lunch.  Problem is staying out till wee hours next morning!  I'll be staying up way, way past my bed time.  It has been a long time since I've done 12's.

As to the Super Bowl - may the better team win!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Happy Superbowl Sunday everybody, from the epicenter of Patriots land!

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Last week: 261
This week: 257

Had my first NUT appointment this week...   reviewed basically everything I had already learned about pre and post surgery diet. Was taken off the aggressive diet I had been doing as it is too early to do thier "pre-op" diet. I continued to lose and have made the preop weight loss goal. I have managed to stay between 1500 and 2000 calories a day even with a few foods that I really enjoy. I also had an Upper GI done... ugh! Hopefully there are not to many more of those in my future! Will finish my preop appointments Monday, then it's on to insurance approval.

Keep up the good work you losers!

Brian

Hey guys, it's been a decent week . I started to attend spin class last weekend and have made it three more times this week. I'm still been eating to many carbs so my weight loss has slowed dramatically. I have to get away from these peanut butter crackers!

Highest weight 391

Surgery weight 387

Current weight 248

Total weight loss 143

Going to enjoy the game today. We're having a few people over so it should be exciting.

Good news! I am now moving to the second shift at work. For the last two years I've been doing the 9 pm to 7 am shift and now I'm moving to the 1 pm to 11 pm shift. Hopefully this will allow me to get to the gym more often. Wish me luck!!!!!

255.25 : Last week

1.25 : Difference

Hello Guys:
Another 1.25 down this week. I am really concerned that I am not eating enough. Even a forcing myself to eat more protein shakes and real protein I am not getting many calories in. On the other hand I feel really good and am very happy. I did a call working last weekend on the symphony which was lots of hard busy work like setting up chairs, risers and humping big instruments about (think kettle drums) for a hour and a half and didn't ever break into a sweat. I used to be soaked after something like that at +300 pounds. Come to think of it, unless it is after a work out at the gym I don't sweat much at all any more.
I am almost at my first goal or check in point. I want to be under 250. I can sure feel the difference and have been getting a lot of hugs from ladies I know. Which I think is nice than getting hugs from total strangers.
Enjoy the Superbowl, I am not sure who to cheer for since I don't have any favourite teams playing - Someday Seattle will be there - ha!
I may not be checking in for about four weeks, so keep working on your plans and have a fun time today with the game.

I survived another week!  Worked my normal hours on Monday, then in training Tues-Friday from 7a-5p.  (Did I mention I had a 1 hour commute either way so it was more like 6a-6p?)  However, I was still able to stick to plan and post a 4 lb loss this week!!!

Friday I got to spend the day with my beautiful God-Daughter as her parents were out of town for the night and needed a sitter.  My wife and I got to hang out with her until her parents came back on Saturday afternoon.  She is the best!  No trouble whatsoever keeping up with her, even though she is almost 2...

Next week is back to normal schedule, and thank god for that.  I know my work didn't stop while I was away, so there is going to be a LOT to do when I return tomorrow.  At least the week should go quickly.

SUPERBOWL:  Don't care who wins, just hope the score goes my way for the pool I am in.  I need the money!!!!

Best of luck and have a great week, my fellow losers!

Loss - 2#

down another two. Not bad, but not setting the world on fire. I need to remind myself that that is a good amount. That would be 104 pounds a year from now, which would have me near my goal in less than 18 months.

strong in the diet exercise department, increasing the weight training

keep up the good work guys!

The super bowl? well, all it is to me is a sign that spring training is around the corner!

Happy Super Bowl Sunday,,,,,

Well it was a good week weight loss wise, I am still very early out and hope I can hit the numbers a lot of you are hitting many months out from surgery.  I am still hitting the gym during the week, weekends I have not yet found the time.....with the weather we have been having....... yard work is where I have been spending my time.

On the road again this week....I feel fortunate that I have gotten into a routine when I am on the road..food wise.  I bring protien drinks and bars to help ensure I get my numbers in....and I limit my food choices eating out to seafood which also helps.

Hope everyone enjoys the game.  Should be a very good game.  GO PATS!!!!!

100 LBS Total !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just feel like I won the Superbowl of weight loss!! I finally hit that 100lb loss. I know I still got an uphill climb, but I am so excited.  We took photos today to mark the success.  I visted my Doc and the NUT this week.  Iron was a bit low and he also wants me to add a B-50 multi.  I'm hoping those changes will add some energy.

A note on protein that I was unaware of.  My Doc said that you can only absorb about 25 grams of protein in one sitting. The rest just gets flushed out through the kidneys.  I was putting about 45-50 in my morning shakes, but half of it wasn't being used.  I now know better and have made the changes.

Have a great Week!!

AWESOME NEWS!!!!  Congrats on the 100 lbs!

As far as the protein, my surgeon told me the same thing, that is whyhe doesn't require the higher amounts of protein some surgeons do.  He said trying to get in 90 grams doesn't really do you any good, since your body can't absorb it fast enough.  (My plan is only 3 meals per day, with snacks only if I am short on protein or need it)

Best of luck!  Keep up the good work!
