Happy 1 Year Surgiversary To Me!!  :-)   Had an exciting trip to Planet Fitness this morning...  Finished my 3.5 mile run and as I was heading into the locker room a guy comes running by me with no shirt on.  I didn't pay much attention and kept walking.  As I get into the locker room there is a guy on the bench having a heart attack (50's - overweight... - hadn't even started exercising yet).  In about 30 secs the guy from PF came in with the defibrillator and hooked it up.  I asked if he had already called 911 and he said yes so I went out to wave the EMT's in and guide them to the locker room.  They got there in about 5 mins, checked the man and took him away in the ambulance.  Hopefully he'll be ok...   Very scary and just an amazing reminder of why I began this journey 1 year ago and why I continue to go the gym and watch my diet!  What an amazing year it has been.  I'll try and post some pics and more later when I get a moment!!   Hope everyone has a great day and don't take anything in your life for granted!

First - CONGRATS on your sucess. I am more of a lurker than a poster, but I keep up with all you guys and your informational posts. (Keep 'em coming) I was banded in October and am amazed by the weight loss you guys have with the RNY.  I couldnt bring myself to having it done and went with the band, so my weight loss has been slower (but steady).

Quick Question about Planet fitness....... How do you like it?  I am planning on going out on my next days off and joining one of my local gyms, PF seems to have the price I like.

Thanks for any input

Thanks and believe me it was a lot of soul searching before settling on the RNY but am glad that I did it!!

As for PF, I really love it for what I need to do.  Some circuits and a lot of cardio.  I have the black card membership so I go to a gym near my office in the mornings and go to the one in my city on the weekends.  Works out great at less than $20 per month.  Can't beat it!!

Life can quickly remind us of WHY we are doing this!!

As an aside, we really like our PF, access 24/7 is great since we tend to be up at 545am for our workouts and there is plenty of equipment to go around.

Price is incredible, $10 each per month

Nothing like seeing somebody, who could have been you a year ago, having a coronary before your morning coffee!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Amen to that, brother!!  I was thinking that exact same thing...

I'm not overly spiritual but it was the kind of strangely too coincidental thing to have this happen on my one year anniversary when I was having a bit of a pity party the night before and not really motivated for the gym this morning but made it there anyway!!  Believe me, I am once again motivated after getting slapped in the face by the sight of that man laying there on the bench!!

Look out 200's here I come!

Thanks Tim.  Looking forward to jogging on the cape beaches this summer.  My wife just booked a week down in Welfleet in July for us so can't wait.  Maybe we can hook up for dinner one night!!  I'll let you know when the time comes closer.

You got it , Mike, Wellfleet is my back yard (literally), my property abuts the Wellfleet Drive-in, and I know all the good spots for everything- food, fun scenery. We should definitely hook up!

You are almost half the man you used to be.  I bet you are very proud olf yourself.  I have what should be my last appointment with the dietiician tomorrow and they are submitting.  Insurance said they should have an answer for me in about a week.  Last time it took 4 days but paperwork was missing so they said we need to resubmit. Anyway great job keep going. Curious what is your goal?

You said it and believe me I notice it when going up stairs, playing softball and basketball with the kids and you name it...  I do feel amazing!!
Early on I had unrealistic goals set (220 or so) so at this point my only goal is to get under the 300 lb mark.  I am 6' 3" and when I tell people that I still weigh over 300 they are amazed but I'm really not going to set any goal other than to keep doing what I'm doing and see where my body lands!!  This is most definitely a marathon and it took me 44 years to get to my heaviest so I'm in no hurry!!
Good luck with your insurance.  Hope you find out soon!

 Happy 1 YR Surgiversary Mike!!

You have had an amazing weight loss journey and it's been great hearing about it and using your suggestions. I can tell you are very strong willed and that you will definetly continue to succeed!!  My oldest was looking over my shoulder on Sunday when I was at the computer and pointed to your post.  He said "That Mike guy is amazing, look how much weight he has lost!"  I told him you are inspiring and that all the guys in this group are good friends.  Heck, we may all have to pick a spot this summer and meet up to celebrate!

Have a great week!
