Well, I held steady for another week and didn't break into the 200's.  Darn!  I am in serious training for my 5K race in exactly two weeks and made it to the gym 5 days (Monday through Friday) with running on Monday, Wednesday & Friday.  Did the elliptical trainer on Tuesday and the arc trainer on Thursday.  Also did strength training each day.  I didn't take the elevator one time last week and hiked up and down from the 4th floor roughly around 5 times a day.  Woo Hoo!  I know I put in the work and actually feel thinner this week but the scales just didn't want to cooperate.  That's ok as I am in "machine" mode and love it!!  Bring on the BAA 5K on April 15th!

I am heading out in a little while to go flying with a friend of mine.  Something that a year ago I wouldn't even have considered for fear that I'd overload the plane or not be able to fit in the seat.  Really excited about getting some nice pics from the air.  We plan on flying to Plymouth for breakfast, then looping over the Cape Cod Canal and back up around over Battleship Cove in Fall River before heading home.  Should be fun!!

Softball practice begins this week and looking forward to another great season.  Already planning out some fun drills.  I'll keep you posted.  Well, must get going to get ready for the flight.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Great post, Mike-should be an awesome day for sightseeing!

Well, I dropped what I regained the previous week-  and virtually overnight as usual.  Glad to see it going in the right direction. I have finished designing my freeweight program with the trainer at my gym and I am excited to begin trying something new and different. It will take 1 1/2" hours to complete at least twice a week, between warmups and stretching afterwards. That is about all the time I can afford after work and between family obligations. After it gets through kicking my ass (I'm sore as hell shoving those weights around) I am anxious to see the results it will provide me.

I am also joining a running club that my trainer has organized that meets twice a week behind the gym. There is a bike path that runs several miles up and down the Cape and will be a good test for me to get off the treadmill. I can bring the pooch as well, I'm sure she'll appreciate it. I am signing up for a 5K run at the end of April. Whoda thunk??

I feel friggin' awesome- my energy level and attitude/self esteem is light years away from where it was just a year ago. Amazing!! I hope all you new guys are paying attention because this is what you will be posting if you stick to the plan.

So, some household chores and recharging for another funfilled, action packed workweek!
Good luck to the rest of you losers!!

Tim T.

Hey Tim, that sounds awesome.  Let Bill and I know when your 5K is and maybe we'll join you. He missed the signup for the BAA 5K and was looking for another one soon.  Sounds like fun!

I'll attribute any loss this week to the blood the mosquitoes sucked out of me while I was mowing my yard yesterday.  Some of them are now needing WLS!

Serious note though able to up the walking some this week plus yard work is good exercise.  For the ones who have not heard me mention this before - loose the self propelled lawn mowers!  If you need a riding mower because of the size of your yard, like me, have one.  But if you can use a push mower, I have part of my yard I do with one of those too, get a plain ol' push mower.  Discovered it is easier to use one after losing weight than it was to use a self propelled and it is great exercise!

Never, and I mean NEVER, trust a fart!!

Good advice.  Pretty bad that two years ago, I would get exhausted using my ride around lawn mower.  Hired a service last year but am thinking of saving a few bucks and doing it myself this year.  Sad to hear about those darn mosquitos.  Nothing up here yet in the Northeast but I'm sure they are getting ready to attack.  Time to fire up the Mosquito Magnet!!  I love that thing!

Happy April Fool's!!!

Not too much to say this morning, my weight drop is slowing, but still dropping towards my goal of 220.  The Colorado weather is now in the summer mode and the bicycles are coming out today for tune-ups!!  I can't wait to take a ride!!

I was glad to see the downward action on the scale for this week. I've set a maintenance goal of 180-185 and was slightly over last week. My mindset is that if I exceed the top goal two weeks in a row, that I go into emergency (panic?) mode and reassess my diet and activity levels. I'm really wondering if the 5 lb wiggle room is enough, but I am holding tight with this plan for now.

I'm going to find something to do that allows me to enjoy this beautiful weather - maybe a bike ride.

Have a good week, guys.

Ya'll have a great week.

Went to the scale with no expectations since I've seen so many posts about not losing anything and then they freak out!! If I've learned anything from you guys is it will work if you use this for what it is a "tool" and watch your foods and exercise and the weight will come off.
Anyway, I have lost 9 lbs since Monday's surgery so I'll take it.
highest - 434
Surgery 3/26/12 - 394

You posters talking about what all you are doing today and about all your exercise have really lifted my spirits this morning. I did get out to the dog park and walked a few laps this morning with my boxer or since he's been at my side all week I call him nurse "Rachet!!"

Good morning everyone,

I have been visiting the chiropractor recently and Friday he tried to pop my back and bruised my ribs. By yesterday I had to go to the doctor and make sure they weren't cracked. Good news was my ribs are ok, just bruised. My pneumonia is all cleared up and he put me on Vicodin. Right now I'm feeling real good

It was nice this week to see a bunch of activity on the men's forum. I appreciate the helpful conversations. It makes me feel we are all together in this journey.

Anyway I am down 2 lbs this week ( seems to be my default lately )

Everyone have a good week and keep up the chatter.

Well, hello gents!  Did ya'll miss me last Sunday?  Sorry to have skipped out.  It was my birthday weekend and my wife took me to a friends beach house in Galveston for a 4 day weekend.  That was my first time I had any alcohol since surgery, and did pretty well the first time.  Had crown and coke zero, and didn't have any issues.  Made the decision to keep it light and not drink too much, and actually held the line on the scale when I got home.  It was a weekend of a little bit of alcohol, a few cake balls, and good times.

This weekend I was out of town again at the in-laws house helping my father-in-law tear down an old building on his property.  Something I would never have done.  Now, I spent the weekend on the roof taking off the roofing tin and in general doing manual labor.  It was AWESOME!  I outworked him both days, and it felt great!

So this week I am at 3lbs down, but that is after having breakfast, lunch, a snack, and almost all of my water for the day before I got home to my scale.  So....  heres to the next week!

Best of luck, gents!

Hi Guys,

Tough, emotional Week. On Saturday attended Memorial Service for Mother who had passed. Tempted to gourge on a lot of food, but kept in mind the ideas of Mindful Eating. So a slight gain of 1 lb is ok w/ me. I am trying to keep my maintenance weight 2-3 pounds below or above 200, which I am good with.

Good week in the gym. Ran 3X all about 3 1/2 miles. Training for a 5K in the next month or so....Just stunning when I weighed almost 350.

Hope you all have a good week!

Best,
Bill

Hi Gents,

Sorry for your loss Bill, hope your next week is better.

My Stats:

High weight: 296
Weight at initial consult 1-19-2012: 269
Last week: 240
This week: 237
Total weight lost: 32

I had my weigh-in on Tuesday and the Doc was very pleased, she said "look at you losing all that weight"...  Signed my consent form and off to the Anesthesia Doc on the 10th, then next stop is operating room.  Had a **** week emotionally and have to find a way to get centered before my surgery date. Anyone who has kids around 18 knows what I mean, you love to see them become adults but it is never easy.

Loss of 3 for the week, no real schedule, gym, or diet, just chaos.

See you losers next week.

Brian
Bill, so sorry for your loss..my thoughts and prayers go to you and your family.

Hi everyone,  my weight loss continues.  Slow and steady,   I have done a lot of travel in my life, I have to say The Cayman Islands is the best location to date that I have visited.  While it was for business and I was working for the most part, the trip was very relaxing.

Mike, I love flying, I hope your flight was uneventful and you were able to take a lot of pictures.  It looked like anice day to be up.....should have been smooth air and no strong sun to make picture taking difficult.

Hope everyone has a great week......

Lee

Oh yeah, it was a perfect day and the flight was flawless.  I think I snapped over 500 pics.  We flew over Gillette Stadium then headed to Plymouth and landed there for breakfast.  Came back over the Cape Cod Canal and along the Southcoast then followed the Taunton River back up from Fall River back home.  It was awesome and the best part was that I fit without a problem with seat belt length to spare!!  Great stuff!

-3.6 pounds this week after a 0 the week before!!  I have "mini" stalls, but I weigh every day so I actually seeing it going UP and down all the time with my occasional "low" days.  I was back at 225.x this morning for instance.

Glad to see it go down and I did my measurements yesterday as well.

My chest has gone from 60" down to 47 I think it was, waist from 54" to 42" (38 pants), and I lost a good bit during the month of March.

I lost 10 pounds in March, so weight loss SEEMS really slow but when I look at it from that perspective, I am pretty happy with 2.5 lbs per week on avg 6 months out from surgery!

Kind of interesting to get closer to the infamous 210 pounds, which is the low end of my Doctor's estimate!  (210-245 based on 30-40% excess weight loss on avg for RNY)

If I lose at this same rate, I should hit his number mid May!  Possibly hitting ONEderland in June at some point!!  Crazy...
