New to OH and Men's Forum

Hello all. I’m new to OH and just found the Men's Forum. I’m hoping this will be a great place to meet other men who are on the same journey and to find support. My name is Tony and I live in Spokane, WA. I have been heavy most of my life and growing up my mom and I ate out almost every day and we were major couch potatoes.  I've tried losing weight numerous ways and came to the conclusion that gastric bypass RNY would be a good option. I want to be around for my wonderful wife for many years and I know she's concerned about me. I started this journey several months ago by attending an information seminar and then I had my initial consult with my surgeon on Jan 27, 2012 and I weighed 380 lbs at 5 feet, 11 inches. I started my pre-surgery diet on Feb 27, 2012 consisting of around 1500 calories per day. As of May 6, 2012 I have lost 35.3 lbs on just the pre-surgery diet and I should have a surgery date next week. Just wanted to say hi to everyone here and I look forward to sharing our journeys and supporting each other.

Welcome Tony!

Congratulations on your success thus far.  35lbs is quite the accomplishment.  However, you better get ready.  Once that surgery is done, your scale will seem broken with all of the losses you will be registering!

Best of luck and keep active on here.  If you have questions, ask.  There are alot of guys on here that helped me get through the first phases, and are still helping me today at almost 9 months post VSG.

Get ready, loser!

Hi Tony, I'm new here myself ,,,, welcomw !

Thanks. Looks like your surgery is tomorrow. Best wishes for a wonderful surgery and speedy recovery.
Welcome.  This is a good place for info, encouragement and inspiration.  I myself am only two months post op and have found this a good spot to check in often for all those things.  Good luck with the process.
Welcome Tony and HANG ON for the ride of your life!!  I think most of us were heavy most of our lives and it really is hard to believe how many things we did not do because of the weight!!

Pant sizes are gonna start dropping (ebay is good source of cheap clothing, as is goodwill), and THEN you start being able to do things you would never have guessed you would even try!

Life is about to get REALLY exciting my friend, welcome!

Tony,

Welcome! Congrats on your progress so far. Let us know if you have any questions. We are all here for each other.
