Has anyone had surgery with Dr Carlos Quesada in CR? If so,  can you tell me more about your experience? I am having a hard time fidning much information about him or other patients who had him for mini GBS, but his references are excellent and he's board certified in the US. However, I want to make a good decision.
Thanks! Christina

Hello,

I have spoken to  a few folks who were pleased but it has been awhile.  As long as he was trained by Dr. Rutledge, you should be ok.

I just had my surgery with Dr. Carlos Quesada, in Costa Rica.  He is a super nice man and a perfectionist in his surgerys. I found him on line at the Healthy Escapes Website  He made every effort to make sure i was comfortable with the procedure and why he chose to do the Mini Bypass for me,, over the Lap band that i had originally wanted..  I have asthma and he was also very concerned that i see a lung specialist befor my surgery, to make sure i was at the tip top of my current health. Befor he did any surgerys..
I found the whole experience very comforting and i felt in good hands for the whole time.. In my recovery i am still in constant contact with him and his staff. i have an appointment on Wed. to have my drainage tube taken out..
My husband and i planned on an extended stay, so we do not go home untill Aug 24... to make sure all is good, and i am in good traveling condition.   I would highly recoment the extended stay as i sure would not want to be traveling in my recovery stage..

I am still recovering, as my surgery was on Aug 11, 2011 .... So i have no comment on the out come. I do know all the staff we encountered were very professional and most of them spoke english.. The CIMA hospital, where my surgery was preformed, was a wonderful modern place. The room was like a hotel room, my husband was able to stay right in my room with me..

If you have any other questions please message me..

I had my surgery with Dr. Q in April 2011 following my aunt, uncle, sister in law and cousin.  He was very thorough and the hospital care was great.  He did however misdiagnose my post operative bout of high blood pressure.  Turns out I was VERY dehydrated which was diagnosed by my GP the day I got home.  It's something he should have known right away instead of trying to have me take a pill (which I refused).  But other than that little incident- I'm now 103lbs lighter and feeling great :0)
