Post Date: 11/7/11 2:51 am Hi,
Actually there are several different types of bypass. Some are not as affective as others. Yes, you probably should research the different types. If you go to the main OH page and pull down the forums menu on top, you will see many forums set up for each of these procedures and then you can chat with folks about their experiences. You should be confident that you made the right choice for you before committing to ANY surgery.
The RNY and the MGB differ in this way. The MGB does not require the "Y" connection and bypasses up to 6' of the small intestines. The RNY, I think, only bypasses about 13 inches. You can read more about the MGB at http://clos.net and learn more.
Good luck on your research.
