    Topic: So where is everyone?
It looks like this board has been abandoned! I know I've had my bikes out a few weeks now the weather has warmed up. My son and I have already made one trip up to the trails and had a great day there. It had rained a couple days before, so the sandy areas still had enough moisture to get decent traction going uphill. We're still not going to place in any race, but we were able to do 26 miles in less than half the time of when we started riding a couple years ago. This spring we bought a 650 Ninja sport/commuter. I thought it would be fun to buzz around town with and a smaller bike for my son to learn to ride with me while I'm on the Vulcan. It is a great bike and the two are so different. The 650 is light, nimble and very responsive. I still prefer the Vulcan on the highway, though. It's kind of like having a luxury car and a sportscar. The Vulcan is a beast weight wise, but it sure rides smooth. The Ninja actually makes more horsepower than the Vulcan's 1500cc's but gets blown around pretty easy and you get a lot of air blast as the rider. They both have their pros and cons. It is a lot of fun to snort around town on the 650, though - I just have to watch my speed as the local law enforcement always seems to be watching me as I go by! LOL So what's everyone else been up to? Is anyonoe going to Americade? Hope everyone has a good and safe week! Matt

Pretty cool. Thanks for sharing your find! I'd be scared to try jumping a hard tail, yet alone a bike that big! It's good to see a post. I thought this board had died!

Let me know if you get to go to the cabin. We're not far from there. We can give you some pointers on great roads to ride on. Deals Gap "The Dragon" (318 curves in 11 miles) is not far!!! It's great to ride, just beware on the weekends- the sport bikes tend to overtake it and love to pass in the curves. It's definitely different from roads up North though so you need to be careful. We have tons of accidents on the road each year and it's because there is no shoulder and most people aren't used to it. If you ride it like you have some sense it's a great thrill!!!! We'd be more than happy to show you around!!! Good luck on your lap band!!!! I'll be thinking about you on Tuesday!!!!
Topic: RE: Can't wait to see??
I too am new to the boards and new to WLS. I am scheduled for Lap Band surgery next Tuesday. Your posting caught my eye... I have an '04 Goldwing 1800 (White) and my wife has a '94 1500 Aspencade (Wineberry) that is triked We can't wait to get them out on the road again - Michigan weather is just not cooperating. My wife was looking at a cabin for rent near Pigeon Forge/Dollywood -- thinking about taking a road trip when I'm feeling more thin and up for an adventure.

We are planning a trip to Yellowstone this year for two weeks. I think I'm probably just going to ride with him so we can save money on gas, etc. It should be a great time just the two of us!! We started out with four other couples but they have all chickened out and decided to haul their bikes in an RV Toy Hauler-- they are just not dedicated motorcycle riders I guess!!! Take care!!
Topic: RE: Can't wait to see??
Congratulations to both of you! I'm sure you'll notice a big difference when you get back to riding! I've found it much more enjoyable now. But, with you having your own trike, you'll probably ride more on your own, right? Hopefully we can get our bikes back on the road soon! Keep up the great work! Matt
    Topic: Can't wait to see??
I am new to this board but just thought I'd post a message and say I can't wait to see how my husband and I fit on his Goldwing together now. In February 2005 we triked his 1995 Honda Goldwing (Magenta) for me. I loved it!!! The deal was I had to put at least 3000 miles on it in the first year or he was going to sell it. I made it and put 3500 miles on!!! Last year I doubled my first year total coming in at just over 7000 miles. We even went to Niagara Falls from Tennessee!!! Of course, when we triked his bike that meant he got a new one. He got an '05 Honda 1800 Goldwing (metallic blue). Before we had our surgery in November '06 it had gotten to the point that when I did ride with him it was so uncomfortable. We haven't been able to ride except for a few days so far this year and I rode my bike those times. With him down almost 100 pounds and me down 62, I can't wait to see what it feels like!!!

A few weeks ago, my husband (MikeyLikesIt) on here was in an accident on his bike. He walked away, but his bike was totalled. To help offset the cost of a new bike for him and because a) I wasn't riding my bike enough before his accident; and b) I really don't see myself riding it now after what he went through; I am selling my bike. Here's a link to photos and specs. If you have any questions, please email me through the "contact" link below. http://www.getyourdorkon.com/moto/ Blessings, Jennifer

Hey Mike, Sorry to hear about your accident. Hope you weren't hurt! I take it your bike was as you kind of say your in the market now. That's too bad as it was a great lookin' Vulcan! I live down by Kalamazoo in southwest Michigan. It's truly confusing - Gaylord is in Otsego County, but the City and Township of Otsego are down here in Allegan County. But, regardless - it's cold and snowy today - about 16 degrees. We have about two feet of snow on the ground. The bike show was great as always. Sorry, but I already pulled the picks. This board has been really dead lately. On a good note, however, I am taking delivery on my new Ninja today. We've been waiting on the trucker as he broke down due to the cold. He should be here later today. I am hearing forecasts of 40's for next week, but I don't think I'll be able to get it out. I'm sure it will be a sloppy mess around here for a few weeks as it starts to thaw out. Take care and ride safe, Matt

Hey, how is Gaylord!? I didnt make it to the motorcycle show when it was here in San Antonio. Of course when it was here, was before my motorcycle accident, so I wasn't really in the market.
Topic: RE: 2007 International Bike Show
We bought a Nija 650r! Trying to not to break our budget, I've been watching e-bay for a use 2006 model. I became somewhat intrigued by some of the salvage bikes I've seen on there and in doing general searches of the net. Well, long story short, I stumbled on a 2007 in Califoria that has about $200 worth of damage to one of the plastic side pieces and a very small dimple (size of a dime and less that 1/16") in the side frame where a slider bracket twisted against it. The owner evidently side-swiped a car and it caught on the slider which was offset from the frame on a bracket (a weak method of attachment). So the insurance company totalled the bike for the small dimple in the frame. The purchase is being made from a Kawi dealer who races this model, has ridden it and certifies that the frame is still straight and true. The bike still has factory warranty till the end of September! So, I'm anxious to get it and for warmer weather to get here. Some bikes I would really be hesitant to buy, especially those involved in any kind of front end crash that affected the fork and quite possible the frame by tweaking the neck of the frame. I'll post a pic when I get it - probably two weeks or so. It is the same color as the blue one with the trunk in my bike show album - but this will not have a trunk. Matt
    Topic: 2007 International Bike Show
Boy, this place is quiet lately! To help liven it up a little, I've posted some pics on my profile that we took at the International Bike Show that we attended in Novi, MI, last weekend. We went on Sunday, which was evidently a good choice as the crowd was not bat at all. I spoke to a friend who went Saturday and he said he had to wait quite often to get on and look at particular bikes. We had a great time! I swear it took a couple hours after we left for the smile to start to leave my face. I was like a kid in a toy store - hey, big kid - big toys, right! If you have one of these coming within 2 to 3 hours of where you live, I highly recommend them. We are looking for another bike and this is the place to go to get on them and crawl around looking at the details. I guess in the warmer climates they even offer some demo rides. We're considering a Kawasaki Ninja 650R, so if anyone has any feeback for me I'd appreciate it. It is the first picture with my son on it and I believe there is a blue one in the album that has a trunk mounted on the back. Hopefully this link will go right to the album. http://www.obesityhelp.com/photos/uzone,photos/action,gallery/albumId,12985/ Enjoy! Matt

Thanks, Angel! Yeah, it's been a remarkable ride. You've done fantastic yourself! I hadn't looked at your profile in quite a while and you've done great, too! I like your new avitar - the pony tails are cute . . . Well, I don't know about you, but I'm ready for spring already to get the bike back out. We're planning on going to some bike shows this winter in Chicago - but that doesn't really compare to getting back in the saddle! Take care, Merry Christmas and I hope 2007 is a great year for you! Matt

Topic: RE: What happened to all the riders
Hey Hey!! Merry Christmas! I know I been absent for long time.. sometimes we just get caught up in the whirlwind of life.. Riding season is done for the Pac NW crew... But if there ever is a DRY day.. I am on it!! Wishing you all the best of Holiday!
Topic: RE: What happened to all the riders
Hi Howard - I still check the board from time to time, but I think most must have other interests during the winter. Unfortunately, I have to put my bike away for the winter - but I did see a fellow out riding two days ago when it was 40 here. I can't wait till spring, but hey - I guess winter just officially started. I hope Santa brings you something for your two wheeler! Merry Christmas! Matt
Topic: What happened to all the riders
Seems like everyone fell off the earth, there must be some people that are still riding! Iknow its the holiday season but still !!!! Topic: RE: last ride of season
Sorry to hear that your last ride has happened. We had the same problem living in NH but with the wifes bad knees we moved south to NC. Still riding and loving it. Had a choice new car or new bike , care to guess which one??? lol. Well Im am the owner of a 2007 HD Street glide. Gave up my 96 Dresser which went to a good home. still miss the New England fall colors. Hope your winter isnt to bad.. I promise not to tease you about riding in January or February(maybe???) I know its hard to break out the fuel stabilizer and put your rides on a trickle charger to keep the battery alive.but spring will soon come back and the rumbling of the engine will pick up your spirits
