Hello! New poster here!
I just wanted to say hello. I'm 28 yr old stay at home mom that's almost four months since my surgery. I'm currently down 83 lbs. I mainly do loom knitting for a group I started at my church, but I also know the basics of knitting, crocheting, and I love cross stich and embroidery. We make hats for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and deployed soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan. In a month, we have made 82 hats for the NICU, 4 pairs of baby booties, and 14 Adult Hats for a unit in Iraq. If you've never heard of loom knitting, it is also known as rake knitting or amish loom knitting. Wal Mart sells a brand called Knifty Knitters. It's really fast (and I should know cause I'm a lefty and can STILL do this easily).
This is the website if you are interested in loom knitting

Anyway, KNIT ON!

Dear Carol,
Hi there. It is always great to hear from knitters. I too do knitting, crochet, needlepoint, cross stitch, etc. But I've found that knitting is easier on my hands than crochet--I don't hold it so tightly. There are some ladies at the knit shop I go to who make helmet liners for soldiers. I haven't tried on yet--I already have too many projects in the works--but I think it is a great idea. I've made some pet blankets for the local humane society, but the neo-natal hats sounds like a great idea for using up the last ball of yarn. I made a baby bunting that looks like an ear of corn for a friend who is expecting in Sept. Since I live in the midwest, the humor of it was just too great to pass up!
I'll have to check out the website. And congratulations on the weight loss. I have my five month check up tomorrow. So far the only problem I've had is constipation. I'm not experiencing any hunger, and I've not tried sugar, bread, pasta, or rice--all the things I should stay away from anyway. I do exercise, so I hope that will help keep the weight loss going even after it slows down.
Well, welcome and good to hear from you,
Sally
Hi Carol,
Wow I didn't see the demo site. I will go back and check it out
LOL that is all I need--one more addictive thing to add to my list
I can focus intensely on what I think is interesting for brief periods of time I think that is why I have so many different hobbies My husband and I have roomfuls of stuff because we get into enjoying whatever at the moment. Our real addiction as husband and wife have been food and DVD collecting.
