Well, I've been gone for about a month weight is the same... But that is not what brings me back.  I am just wondering if any of you have allergic asthma.  Apparently I just developed it this weekend.  It doesn't really make much sense to me considering I have had allergies all my life... why would I have a reaction so bad now that it causes asthma.  If this is something that you can shed some light on I would greatly appreciate it.  Either way thanks for your time.

I have asthma and allergies too. Many people develop allergies in their 30's and 40's - it has just taken your body that long to build up a response over and over again until to an innocent teeny weeny allergen AND THEN- booooooom you have an allergic response that you can't ignore or miss. It could be that you've had very minor responses in the past that you didn't recognize. I'm allergic to many things but I didn't start taking medication until I was in my thirties and now I can't live without my daily Loratidine (generic Claritin). Two years ago, out of the blue I developed an allergy to peanuts of all things - I can't even eat  crumb without getting ill.

I also had asthma as a child that wasn't diagnosed till I was 40. I clearly had asthma attackes as a child; my father was a doctor and my mother a nurse and they just referred to it as just one of my "attacks" without realizing exactly what it was. Many people my age had asthma that was not recognized or treated in childhood.

You should see your PCP for treatment - if needed you may also need to see an allergist-immunologist. There is a lot of good information on the web about allergies - Wiki has some good info as well as Mayo and WebMD.

   Thanks for the reply.  I did make an apt. with my PCP because in faith that he could tell me that I didn't have asthma.   But I have had allergies my whole life, dust, pet dander etc.  Right now I am 26 and I think that the trigger may have been pet dander.  I love animals and I always play with them.  I have 3 of my own at home (1 dog 2 cats).  My other dog (lives with my rents) is a black lab and he always gives me allergy problems.  I went to my mother in laws this weekend with my hubby and our dog (he's a pom) she has 2 dogs (1 mut & a yellow lab puppy).  Per usual I took my allergy meds and began the playfest w/ the puppy.  I didn't have any of the normal allergy symptoms that I typically get, I'm assuming this was because I premedicated.  However I wheezed for a couple of days and it was very difficult to breath.  It's still a little uncomfrotable.  That is what brought me into Urgent Care, I'm hoping it's a one time deal but we shall see.  I've read most of the info on mayo and webmd but not wiki I'll have to check it out.

Oddly enough, people can be okay living with their own cats or dogs, but another person's pet will trigger allergies.

My DD is one! She has several cats - outdoors for the most part, but they do come in esp in winter. She starts wheezing anytime she goes to someone else's home who has cats!

That just seems so strange to me but I know it's true.  I always have that problem especially w/ dogs that aren't bathed very often.  Cats generally bother my allergies but if they are combed regularly i'm generally okay.  But most people don't groom their cats. =)
