I am starting my weight loss journey and need to loose five percent of my weight before my insurance will ok me. I have a hard time getting all my vegetables. So I started drinking a green drink. It has more than a full days supply of vegetables in a 8 oz. glass. It tastes like your drinking lawn clippings. But I started this last week (9/22) when I was weighted at 383 and I got weighted yesterday(9/27) and I have lost 7 lbs.   To me that's a lot of weight in five days. I have also been drinking my water.

Has anyone else added a Green Drink to there diet? I just want to see if my weight loss is due to the drink or my water consumption.

My starting weight at the surgeons was 383 also. There are alot of reason you could lose 7lbs, I assume you were doing more than just drinking a green drink...

My pre-op diet before the final liquid diet was: eat 100g protein a day, and not more than 100g carbs. I didn''t have to count veggies in that and needed to include one protein drink. Use some fat in moderation. was doable and lsost like 10lbs in a month.

I still have insurance hoops to jump through. I am on the six month weight loss to prove that I am serious about loosing this weight.  I am getting in my water and working on adding more veggies and fruit to my diet. I also want to start going to the gym and get a little more active each month.

I am hoping to have a surgery date somewhere in March.

There is no Perfect food. There are no magic foods either. Vegetables aren't either of those things. The last time I ate a veggie was in the Bush administration. The first Bush.

Never drink your food, or have liquid calories. If you want to get off to a good start, begin eating the way you will have to after surgery. Dense protein first, maybe a few bites of a non-starchy veggie after. Start weighing and tracking your food to control portions. If you can do those things, you will be off to a great start, and will never need Perfect foods.
