Cut the carbs! Get 20-40 carbs max. per day. That's causing the cravings & hunger. Do like the previous poster & get back to basics. Try the 5 day pouch test. This will help with carb cravings & get you back on track. Remember always do protein first. Drink at least 64 oz. & cut back on calories. 1200 is more like maintenance not wt. loss.

Topic: RE: Preop full liquid diet question!!

I have had the same question - since I can have yogurt, I figure I can have smoothies with protein powder in them.

Topic: RE: Preop full liquid diet question!!

I'm just now starting solid foods after my full liquid diet and I would say GO SLOW with the fruits; and pick ones that have either NO seeds or very few. OH and make sure you slap some protein in it too. :-) plus you still need to watch the carbs and fruit can have lots of carbs. Good Luck!

Topic: RE: protein food without whey-especially drinks

Thanks, I will give that a try.  I was very glad to find out that GNC guarantees all their products.  You can return them if you don't like them!

Topic: RE: Juicing and Smoothies

Hi! I am about 5 years post op, and I have recently made the switch to veganism. It IS a challenge to find non animal based proteins, but it is possible to do with proper planning. Currently, my morning consists of juicing, and I add in spirulina to boost protein. I can already tell a change in my body, it's pretty incredible. My juices are about 70% veggie though, to keep control of carbs/calories.

Protein, protein, protein! Eat protein first then veggies and last complex carbs. It has also been suggested to "get back to basics", start with liquids for 2-3 days, then soft foods, then start with protein again (are you seeing a theme yet?). Look up the "pouch test", they say it works.

Hi,

I love TJ's Tomato and Red Pepper soup.  It is my favorite and I think better than all the other soups you mentioned.  Try it and I think you will agree.  Enjoy!

Topic: Gluten intolerance or Celiac after weight loss surgery
Any thoughts on this? I had rny in 2008 and am having a lot of symptoms that I think may be related to gluten in my diet. I've read a couple articles that suggested there may be a link between the two.

Topic: stoma stretched, pouch stretched

12 yrs post and trying to get back on tract as i have gained much of what i lost back.  if you seen my other posts they can explain more of the reasons why.  I am wanting to know how to tell if the stoma is stretched and/or the pouch stretches.  I can eat a lot of food unfortunetly, but i still hurt if i do over eat.  When i eat certain foods, SUGARS mostly, i get severe stomach pains and nd up dumping but not throwing up.  mostly cant stay out of bathroom very long.  once i can I start to feel better.  Why am i doing this still?

Another question is years ago there was a post about finding pout how many oz your pounch can take by using cottage cheese.  Was supppose to eat cottage cheese until you feel full then measure how much cottag cheese you consumed and that was as many oz your pound can hold.  not sure if that is accurate or not but i remember reading this a long time ago!  thank you

I am not sure about for DS, but with RNY Whey is really all we can have.  But you should be able to find soy, egg, veggie all at GNC, Vita Shoppe ect.

I have tried the one listed below and it wasnt to bad. I have a hard time with the smell of whey powders. So now I stick to premade shakes.

Topic: SLIM FAST PLAN FOR WEIGHT LOSS

I am a post VBG surgery patient from 1997. Have regained all my weight that I initially lost & am now considering a second WL surgery in the RNY.  BUT.....I am first going to take the next 6 months & use the Slim Fast plan to see how much I can lose first before committing myself to the RNY.  I lost 10 lbs. this last week on all liquid diet of Slim Fast, chocolate milk, broth, sugar free jello, & sugar free popsicles plus tons of water.  If I lost that much that fast I am pretty sure I can use the 2-3 Slim Fast shakes a day & a sensible meal to lose some of my regained weight without going thru a second surgery.  ANYBODY ELSE HAD GREAT SUCCESS W/ SLIMFAST ???

Topic: protein food without whey-especially drinks

I just had DS surgery done about 10 days ago, and cannot find a good place to order protein food without whey.  I think I can have a little whey, but the doctor said to not use whey drinks, etc.  I don't know the "good websites to go to where the food is  not REALLY expensive, and the food tastes good.  I need 70-80 grams of protein a day.  I need to order as soon as possible.  I really appreciate any help you can give me.

Topic: Procare Health 1 a day bariatric vitamins.

I am on the hunt for vitamins that are good for me and for my pocketbook. Had the sleeve in 2011.

Had no issues with my sleeve and very successful weight loss after. But six months after my sleeve i had to have another surgery after that was unrelated to fix an issue i had been dealing with for years.

After the second surgery my weight loss slowed. I have not re gained anything but have not lost any weight in a few months. I have been depressed and stressed I got a bit off track after my second procedure. I am going back to basics with everything exercise, food, supplements and my support. Just wondering, has anyone tried Procare Health vitamins and how were our labs after.

Thanks for any information.

Topic: Help- Weight Gain

Hi...

I had RNY Feb 18, 2011....Went from 250- 172.  Since TGiving I am back up to 185 and scared!  I started working out the last 3 weeks...doing a couch to 5k app and also weight lifting.  Starting slow because i have NOT worked out since I was like 16 and I am 34.  Im proud of myself for doing the last 3 weeks and it IS getting easier.  The food part is not.  Im def an overeater and a snacker.  For my job- I am on road ALOT...I tend to grab things on the go or eat out with my clients.  I have never taken the vitamins.  I havent been back to my surgeon since my first post op because I lost my insurance.

I need some help- I have forgotten what vitamins we are supposed to take.  In an effort to get back on track can someone help me?

Aso---WHYYY THE HECK am i physically hungry after 1 hr of eating a meal?!?!??!  I feel hungry alll day!

Ideas on snacks?  Suggestions on a forum or link to look at?  Ive been using fitness pal and I am finding it hard to stay at 1200 cals!!!

Thanks
