“I found the actual taste fine, but the texture horrible. If I used the Bullet, it was too frothy. If I mixed it straight, it clumped. Lots of settling, so I was unsure of the benefit I was getting.”

“I got this in Frosty Chocolate in a RTD can from the Vitamin Shoppe. I'm about half way through it, and it's not bad. It's not good, but I don't grimace when I drink it. And it has a whopping 51 grams of protein.”

“As a powder to mix with milk, MET-RX is an excellent product, with excellent taste. You can boost or pull back on the amount of protein you want to mix. Be careful, though. Malabsorption COULD be a problem if you're trying to get too much protein all at once! The larger size containers are available and a better value at GNC, and if you become a gold club member, you will save even more!”

“I am mixing this with Glucerna Butter Pecan liquid. I am using 4 oz Glucerna, 8 oz Lactaid 2% milk and 3 scoops of MetRx. That gives me 50+ grams of protein. It mixes well and using a "sipper cup" keeps me from gulping it down.”

“I am pre-op and getting ready for lots of protein drinks. This one tastes like a treat. Very thick. I blend it with nonfat milk, a few frozen strawberries, and strange as this sounds, some sugar free orange metamucil (for fiber). It is like eating soft serve ice cream. Filling and tasty. It may be too thick for post op--if so, I'll use less powder or more milk. The price seemed excellent to me--this is a huge container.”

“I think this is a godsend. I drink the whey protein mixed with 10 ounces of water and get 46 grams of protein! That's worth any taste, in my book! The taste does get a little old and I have found it to be much better if I add ice cubes to it once it's mixed. I do like the way it mixes though -- it doesn't have to be frothy, which I appreciate, because I hate frothy shakes.”

“Now this stuff should be put out to pasture. It is horrible. I know it is a great source of protein and my nutritionist recommended trying it with a little sugar free Jello but I am not sure if that would touch the flavor of this stuff. I think I will stick with cheese. It is a much better protein.”

“i have tried carnation instant breakfast and pro-complex both powders and thought they both tasted pretty nasty. i bought met-rx at walmart and i think it tastes a little like chocolate cake batter. it tastes the best of the three. i also want to try their vanilla buttercream flavor. it is 23 grams of protein per serving, then you add about 10 grams of protein with the milk you are supposed to add. ”

“When I was first post op and worried about nutrition, I got some to be sure I was getting enough protein. The taste isn't great, but it is edible. Use ice and a blender to make it better and/or add a little chocolate or flavor extract. I haven't used it since the first month post op because it wasn't that great and I felt I was getting enough protein from foods and vitamins.”
