    Incision not closing

Well it looks like I am making a special trip to see my surgeon tomorrow.....

One of my incisions is still open when it should have been closed a long time ago.  I called the office this morning and the receptionist said that it was not normal for it to be still opened or unhealed.  She said to come in tomorrow and see the Dr. and he can close the incision or do what he needs to do in the office.
After surgery the steri strip they had holding the incision closed must not have been holding properly and my insicion started bleeding after surgery but instead of putting another strip on or fixing anything they left it as is and of course it didn't close the incision.  So now a month later, I still have a hole in my stomach that isn't closing.  Everytime it scabbed over, the scab would fall off a few days later and still leaving me with a hole.

Everything was going so smootly, I knew something had to happen.

     Hi Amanda,

I'm glad to hear that they are going to do something about the incision not closing.  I had one of mine that seeped for a couple weeks after surgery, and took a while to completely heal, but mine did heal, yours will too.  My surgery room mate had seepage for quite a while after surgery, but I think it was part to do with her diabetes.  Neither of us had full open incisions though.

Hope tomorrow goes well for you!

sorry you have to make the trip..better safe then sorry!!
    Hi Amanda,

I had one incision that would open because of the inner healing going on (yes it was the biggest inclision).  Serous fluid leaked out of it for approximately 2-3 weeks.  I had to keep a supply of sterile pads and bandages otherwise my tops keep getting wet from the fluid.  However, there was a deep scab that kept getting wet and then would dry out for a day or so, etc.

Once it finally stopped, the scab stayed dry and the final healing took place.

Good luck with your appointment with the surgeon.

Went to see my surgeon today and apparently everything is normal. I am supposed to be healing from the inside out and it will just take time to close. So polysporin and bandages are all I can do for it right now. And I can still swim and go in the bathtub. :).
