    Wait Times

    it seems to me the  waiting times are getting shorter.  I have noticed that any one who applied in 2010 and 2011 the wait times have been up to 1 year +.  But anyone applying in 2012 seems to only have a 4 - 6 month wait list.
    Any feedback?

    I think you are right. There are still some who will wait up to 1 year or longer but the majority seem to be getting though under 9 months from start to finish.

    I think the whole process has been streamlined a bit. It seems a bit more efficient!

    I am hoping to have my surgery by dec/jan ... we will see.

    My first appt with my family dr to ask was June 5 2012 he did nto send out my referral until june 28th 2012 and I just booked orientation for August 1, 2012...I called to book it though didn't wait for the paperwork to show up.

    Is there a central number to call? 

    My doctor's receptionist can get testy if I call and ask questions... I have had tests and referrals before and have had to stay on top of her..
    My daughter is getting married next May...I would just like to be on the way or know some dates so that I am not in laid up when she gets married.

    You are very lucky I haven't done my 2 nd appointments nor been referred to the surgeon yet. I am not sure what the hold up is however it its getting very frustrating. I am with WRH.

    You are much further then I am... I am just going to the initial orientation session... I have been calling and asking to take anyones cancelled appointments.

    I wish I could do that however I have a 2 1/2 hour drive one way to WIndsor. I am also not sure why I was sent there since other centers are much closer for me and I have also learned through this form is much faster with the process and surgery time.

    It really depends on which area you are in and which hospital you are dealing with.  HRRH has 9 bariatric surgeons and they seem to pump people through the process more quickly than other centres.  Whereas Guelph seems to be a minimum 2 years from referral to surgery.  Ottawa can vary.  I have seen some people move through very quickly and others it seems that their file is forgotten or something.  Personally I was 15 months from referral to surgery in Ottawa.

    My process went really quickly, Referral went in Feb 3rd 2012, and having surgery August 15 2012

    Monica M. how was your surgery with Dr.Huynh? thats my surgeon, and so far ive heard nothing but good from searching him!!

     If you dont mind what hospital were you referred to?  I was referred to Guelph.
