H Pylori
the Nurse Practitioner (a different one than I had originally met with) called me today, they apparently forgot to schedule blood work for me this whole time and now that my file should be going to the team review they have stopped it until I have all the blood work done whi*****ludes the H.Pylori test.
When they did my initial blood work it came back positive for H Pylori. I had to get a prescription from my family doctor for this HP Pack. I had to take it for 2 weeks, I think it was 4 pills/twice daily. It was still early in my journey so it didn't delay anything. I was told that they cant retest the blood for the virus for 1yr since it would still show positive, they'd have to do some kind of breath test so I can only assume it's all cleared up. Hope that helps...
Hi Kerry, i had a gastroscopy done pre op and Dr Hagan wanted the HPylori test done. I had to have the blood test done twice and both times they came back indeterminate... It was ok to have my surgery even with the tests not saying one way or the other that i had it...If you are positive they will put you on the antibiotics to clear it up. Try not to worry ,it wont be a big set back even if you are ..Keep us updated...Krista..
If you had a gastroscope and no ulcers were seen, it's a safe bet that you don't have H.Pylori in your body. If you do test positive for the virus but it hasn't done much in your stomach yet then 2 weeks of a proton pump inhibitor coupled with antibiotics will be in order and I think a breath test to follow up.
Don't create extra stress for yourself. Keep moving forward, take your baby steps and don't let little things like this get in your way!
