Make room for me on the bench!!

I made it through. I was told my surgery was going to be at noon on Friday but it was nearly 1.5 hours sooner.

The walk to the operating theatre is a little intimidating but I made it. My surgeon was Dr. Urbach and he couldn't have been nicer including the 10+ others in the operating room. I though it would be 3 or 4 but being a teaching hospital I had my own pit crew it seemed like.

Even the new SW at TWH Anna got to observe to see what we go through.

In recovery I had a lot of pain but warm blankets and the nurse who gave me pain meds was my hero and I think I might have told her that she was my favorite person.

I was out of it the rest of the day. Up and down to pee a lot. Right now the gas pain is my issue, honestly morphine did nothing and the T3s aren't taking the edge off so I am cruising the halls hoping to toot and burp my way along.

As a note I got my gall bladder out at the same time. They can't always do that but I had ultra sounds prior indicating lots of stones and they managed that and the RNY. One stop shopping and one less future surgery. So advocate for yourself if you have previous gall issues too.

I am on track to go home tomorrow.

Congratulations, glad to hear everything went very well for you.  That's wonderful you had a theatre full of surgeons training and learning.  How soon did they get you up after surgery to go to the bathroom?

My surgery is on Thursday.

I was in my room at 3 or so and on the toilet at 6, 9, 11, 1am, 4 am, 7am. And I was walking the halls after that all night to try and get rid of the gas. They like to measure your pee here as well.

On a good note.. I farted!!! And my nurse high fived me
