1 week post op and still pretty sore, this normal. Full liquid question as well
Recovery is going great, minus one trip to the ER for leaking blood , no issues with fluid Intake be it protein water or yogurt and apple sauce.
Quick question my clinic humber lists tomato juice as acceptable just wanted to run that by the vets
Lastly am I crazy or does skim milk taste like whole milk now , it's flavourful and no****ery like skim tasted pre op
tomato juice was on my list too (TWH) before surgery I liked tomato juice, after surgery- YUK! I even bought a case that didn't even get used... buy one can at first, you might not like it.
I love my milk, I drink 1%, I used to drink 2% but I don't really like that either anymore. Our taste buds change alot
I used V8 the second week.
Had to get the low-sodium variety though, the other was way too strong for me.
Yeah, you'll find that skim tastes just fine - for about 2 years, then you crave the other.
As for the pain, yes that's normal. It's a little scarey, what-all they cut and patched together in there, so you're going to be tender for about another week.
2.5 years post-op, holding at 145 lbs.
You'll notice that your taste buds have changed with surgery, a lot of things seem stronger now. I used to drink Crystal Light, but after I had to dilute it (using 1 pouch to 1L instead of 500mL). As for the tomato juice, you may have to watch the acid in it. It could bother your tummy. You may find it strong as well, and need to dilute it too.

I was sore for freakin ever. I felt like I wa**** by a truck...then one day it just stopped. I found everything tastes, sweet, rich, full etc skim tastes like whole, still does. I found my tastes changed so much it was crazy. Its weird how they alter your tummy, and everything changes !!! Best of luck on your recovery !!

Congrats Armyguy. I am glad things are going well for you and you had your surgery. Things taste different after your surgery sometimes for up to a year. Things you liked you may not and vise versa. I hope all works out and you have no complications. Stay well. Barb.
