Getting off Prevacid and 6 months post RNY

Hello all, I am 6 months post op, down 94 lbs and doing well post rny. The NP at TWH told me I need to try to get off Prevacid which I have been taking 2x a day. I didn't have a problem with acid reflux or ulcers before surgery. I was, unknowingly, H.Pylori positive prior to surgery and was treated for it. Since I have gone off a week ago, I don't feel as well as before. I feel a little heartburn off and on during the day and at night. The NP told me to take Tums or Zantac as needed but if it continues after 2weeks it could be an ulcer and I would have to have another scope. Does anyone have any experience with going off Prevacid?

Yep, when I had my RNY, in 2011, I was taken off Prevacid after 6 weeks, per MD. 11weeks later I had a perforated ulcer with ER surgery. I had aching and grinding pain during the weeks after going off Prevacid. Now I'm on it for life -2 every morning.

I'm three weeks out and I hardly remember to take my Prevacid. Haven't had any issues
