Support after surgery

Hi all, I'm arranging for my support people for after surgery and need some advice. I have a 22 year old son in town and as far as the plan goes for now, he will be the one staying with me for one or two nights after I am released from hospital. I adore him but he is seriously lacking in the area of nurturing. I imagine that he will be happy to have me out of the hospital but he will have no idea what to do with me once I get home. I am quite independent but probably will need help for a few days. The question is how much and what kind of help will I need? And, from my description, will he be able to provide it? Thanks, Jennifer

I didn't really "need" anything but having someone warm my broth, make me cream of wheat and occasionally get me ice water was nice.  Otherwise I was pretty self sufficient.  I would suppose they should know how to get you to your bariatric centre if the need be, just in case.  I'm sure others will have their experiences to share.  Hope you have an uneventful surgery and speedy healing!

Jennifer

You should be okay with your son, all you really need in the house is a person with a pulse and that's really just for reassurance.

Agreed with the above posters. Just needed someone to be there in case of emergencies (and the occasional fetching of something). Other than that, you should be okay!

Helping by taking out the trash, caring for pets and grabbing the occasional beverage, the rest I did on my own, best wishes
