So I have recently started weight/strength training. My scale has no interest in me getting to Onderland. lol. I was wondering if anyone has any experience with starting weight training and your weight loss or body changes like losing inches etc. I could use some insight. Thanks folks!!

I started weight training around a year out because I felt frail after all that rapid weight loss.   It definitely increased my appetite significantly and I've actually gained weight but can still wear the same size clothing.  It has reshaped my entire body...and its strangely addictive.  I love lifting weights...makes me feel powerful and healthy.  I think it raised my metabolism since I can eat a lot of food now and I haven't really gained much weight.  I think the gain, about 5 to 10lbs from my lowest post op weight, is at least 5lbs of muscle...the rest may be fat.  If I can stabilize and maintain my weight here for many years post-op, I will be overjoyed.

I am 10 wks post op and started on very light weights including my own body weight in BodyPump class.

It's normal not to lose weight right away as you are making your muscles work and grow and they way more than fat tissue. This is better for the end result and the weight loss will continue. Up your protein to help your muscles repair.

Adding muscle will help your body burn more calories.  Though initially you may gain a bit of muscle weight, it will pay off in the end by burning more calories.  I started weight training two to three months after surgery.  I'm loving the results.  Have not seen a slowing down of weight loss, despite an increase in my appetite/consumption.  On average, until the last couple of months or so, I consistently lost about 4 lbs a week in the latter half of my journey.  That has slowed down as I hit my last 20 lbs to my target weight, but I think that's to be expected.  And though I've got tons of extra skin, I can see nice definition of muscle in certain parts of me such as shoulders and arms (though not the "wings" -- that will have to be surgically removed, but the top part is fantastic!).

Good luck!
