Back to work

12 weeks ago, Dr Hagen changed my life. Today I returned work and realized I so need a different job. While many of my colleagues were excited for me, hugged me, so proud of me without having any idea what my surgery was. Lifestyle changes was my response. My boss has decided to not approve my vacation in May. 5 days in Collingwood with my guys competing in Shawn Desman's dance competition. Damnit I've worked hard to do as well as I have & learn the tap routine. I'm not missing my opportunity to show my new figure off

Sorry if I'm reading your post wrong. Are you just going back to work today after 12 weeks off? I can understand your boss not wanting to give you a week off next month! lol

But ya, sometimes things happen in our lives and we have to decide how to handle it, good luck with your decision! And the dance competition!!

I read it the same way as the first person. You just had 12 weeks off. Jobs are not easy to come by. I wouldn't be so upset that it costs you your job. Most people don't even get 6 weeks off for this surgery and you got 12. I think you have a very understanding boss .

I get that you're disappointed... but man... I am a freelance costumer in theatre. I don't get any "time off" for this surgery. I just have to take no work and get no money! You can believe that as soon as I feel up to it I will be busting my butt to get work again. I'm not trying to make you feel bad, just to think that you always have greener grass than somebody.

With 12 weeks off you either had complications not mentioned or lots of banked vacation, either way if you don't feel supported at your place of employment, looking for another job is a good idea.

Finding another job easily all depends on what field you are in. Best wishes to you and good luck at your dance competition!!

Thanks for the responses.  I understand that not all individuals have the benefit plans that I do that allowed me the time I received. I work in healthcare & I cannot care for others if I am not in top form myself. I learnt that the hard way after being forced to return to work 3 days after the sudden death of my father. I did have a few complications that I have had to work through and my ability case manager determined my return to work not my frontline manager, so my length of time off was not my decision.  My frustration lies in the fact that I have requested 3 days in May so that I will be around to care for people over the summer when my colleagues wish to take their vacation.
