Home from having plastics

Well what a journey! 17 months ago Friday I had my wls. Friday morning I had my tummy tuck, mons lift and lipo/flanks done. I thought they may remove 4-5 lbs, it was 7! Incredible! I weighed in at 169 that day, today I am 163. They said a lot of iv fluids will take a few days to leave my body and I should be down a few more pounds in the few says.

I stayed one night, normally they send you home same day believe it or not, ugh, but due to my past cardiac arrest, they thought it was best to keep me for observation. 

I cannot explain what it was like to look down in recovery. I cried and two nurses cried with me!

This journey hadn't been easy, its work, hard work and you have to stick to it. You will slip up, absolutely you will, but dust yourself off and keep on going.

Thank you, its so true, this really does complete the journey. I still want to have my batwings removed but my tummy was truly a difficult thing to deal with.

Since I too will seriously need plastics, i was wondering if I could be nosy and ask you approx what the cost was. I'm saving my pennies so I can be ready when the time comes.

I am happy to share! I had several consults before I decided to go with my surgeon Dr Tumi in Barrie. There are many out there. My quotes ranged from 12,995 to 4700.

My panniculectomy was covered by OHIP so I upgraded the panniculectomy to a tummy tuck. It included, obviously the panni removal, muscle repair, lipo of flanks and a mons lift. The cost was $5000.00. If the panniculectomy wasn't covered by OHIP the cost would have been $7500.00 I believe. 

There was also a $300 fee to the hospital for elective surgery costs of the operating room. So my total was $5300.00. Most all plastic surgeons have financing options you can apply for to cover your costs.

Congrats on the surgery...I am going to assume you are very happy. Did they give you a hard time at all putting some if it through OHIP? This is the issue I have been having so far with my search. Would you have any issue PM me the doc's info? How long of a wait for a referral apt, then how long of a wait until surgery?

Honestly, no issues with OHIP. It was sent in and approved within 3 months. I saw the surgeon in late May, could have had surgery in September but put it off til now because of so much hockey with my youngest son.
