I received "the call" from Lana at the Ottawa WMC yesterday. She was calling to offer me a January date but because of work commitments and such, my date was pushed to Monday, March 16th with Dr. Yelle. I start Optifast on February 23rd.

Finally it's my turn!

Congratulations!  I will follow your journey.  Do you mind me asking when you were referred?  My GP finally agreed 2 weeks ago to put me on the registry so trying to get an idea how long Ottawa's waitlist is currently (I live in Ottawa area).

And I will follow yours...always nice to see another on the forum from Ottawa.

My journey at the WMC has been quite long...referred in 2001 and I did the Optifast program for the first time in 2002. I did really well for a few years then I ended up doing the Opti program again in 2012...but I had originally gone in to see about surgery at that time and agreed to give the Opti another try. I did really well again but weight started creeping back on. Finally this past spring I had enough and decided to have the surgery...so my timeline since deciding to have surgery has only been since the spring but I've been in the system for quite a bit longer so I don't know if that speeded things u*****t...I still had to re-do the orientation, have dietitian and behaviourist appointments (I was so afraid they were going to tell me, "you have all the tools and know what to do so suck it up!"...but they didn't...Phew!).

After following ****reeping) this forum for a few years, the timelines vary so much...they appear quite personalized. Some people need more appointments than others depending on the issues leading up to surgery.

It's best to remember that it will happen when it's meant to happen.
