The Invention That Could End Obesity

Read this the other day. Sounds interesting. If it was ready right now I would try it and then have surgery if it failed. I'm on this path now though and I don't have time to wait for the FDA and all the other regulatory acronyms so I'll keep this path going but I thought this was interesting and worth a share.

"Current plans would allow the device to remain for up to six months before removal".

Ugh... so multiple surgeries. Maybe sometime in the far future, but I can forsee many issues arising, just like the gastric band.

Sounds just like the gastric balloon.  Takes 10 minutes to put it in and then it comes out in 6 months.  Helps people to get that full feeling.  Not exactly the same but very similar.

Very interesting indeed, although I LOL'd at the comments about the FDA and that they were hoping to come to Canada and Europe sooner.  The FDA approves pretty much anything related to weight loss and is usually the first (and sometimes only) country to do so.  I'd be shocked if it came to Canada before the US.  I have to say though, I was a little disturbed by their approach to testing only in Cancun and circumventing the appropriate clinical trial procedures set out in the US and Canada (among other countries).  The fact that they are going this route will only delay their approvals even longer, they'd never get approval here or in any of the other major jurisdiction without them.  They should know this!  Makes me wonder 'why' they are circumventing proper procedures.....sounds fishy to me...

Unless these things can stay in for ever, they don't work!
