HRRH still waiting

Hi everyone

It's been a while since I last posted but enjoy reading your questions, comments and suggestions.

I had my orientation at HRRH back in Sept/15. I still haven't heard anything. I called last week and was told they're working on July and August. I know things may have been delayed because of the move. But I was hoping to have at least an appointment, even if the appointment is 2 months away.

Has anyone else that's had their orientation around the same time as me heard back yet? Or am I just being impatient? Lol

Hi there, I saw your post and thought I'd reply even though my orientation was last April. You can see my dates and timeline in my signature below. It can be frustrating to wait but try to make as many changes as you can now. Work on things you will need to change and also get any tests out of the way - such as a sleep study just in case its ordered for you.

Good luck!

Thank you for responding to my post, I appreciate it.

i've started making changes when I left the orientation. How did you know you needed to have a sleep study? Did you do it just in case?

hope all is going well with your journey ?

Hello, I did a sleep study because I had never had one and it's something they usually order but can set you back time wise if your waiting later - now you have time. My family dr also supported it since I'd never had one.

Thanks and and good luck to you as well!! :)

HW 288 Orientation Humber River 8/15

I had orientation at Humber after waiting for 13 months, finally on August 10, 2015. I was told initially I'd get a call December-January. so no call by mid Jan and I call them up... now it's mid-April for a CALL to book appointments... and those appointments would not be until November-December. so 19 months and only orientation done? seriously?

soo, I switched clinics to Guelph which is awesome and they are moving along at freaking lightning speed with some people moving through there these days at 4-7 months orientation to surgery. yes seriously! (you gotta have your ducks in order and be flex for appts but you get the idea)

it's a 90 minute drive for me each way but so worth it to me and here is why:

they have a great system where they send a package advising on what to do specifically to speed up the process, which Humber does NOT do. you only generally learn about what tests are required once you meet with trio and then they wait for results and then treat whatever comes up and wait for the next appt.... so obviously not the most efficient process!

their tips: get a sleep study done if you haven't already. get a pre-assessment full bloodwork panel including vitamins (including Vitamin D), a urinalysis, etc ahead of time before you even arrive for orientation and have it all faxed to Guelph once you've transferred. speak to Lori and she can give you the deets, she's fantastic.

they also test for H. Pylori on the blood panel so that you have time to address that (if you're positive) way before surgery.

Turns out I'm seriously Vitamin D deficient. I can take steps to correct that now - even before my first appointment. Efficient!

AND, you can book your trio appts starting the day after orientation. no waiting 6-8 months for a call.

If you can make it to Guelph, I highly recommend it. They have been friendly, efficient and kind. And fast!

Hi there I read your response and was wondering how I could go about transferring to Guelph? What has to be done? Thanks in advance

All you have to do is call Humber and ask for them to transfer you to Guelph. Then you would call Guelph and confirm they did the transfer. Speak with Lori if you can, she's so so so nice! They all are actually. If you have to leave a message they WILL actually call you back usually same day.

Bear in mind that they will put you back at the beginning to their orientation but they move so much faster so it's worth it.

Let me know things go! Good luck!
