Time frame question!
RNY is the gold standard in Ontario. Vsg is done for those that the surgeon deems medically necessary and not just at request. You will need to have your physician doo the referral on line. Depending where yoou live will depend which centre you get. Yoou will then get call for orientation. Once you get to see nurse practioner or surgeon you can make your request or case. Took 18 month for me from referral to surgery

I was referred mid Jan 2016. I'm having my surgical Ed class aug 22 then waiting to see surgeon for my date. sort of gives you a time line. this is through Windsor.
referred mid Jan, info session feb 29th, nurse April 25th, nut class may 3rd, Doctor may 10th, social worker may 12th, dietician & sw July 11th, Doctor July 19, surgical education class August 22, meet the surgeon August 31, surgery September 22/16
Time line depends on the hospital. Some hospitals are quick and some not so much. Most centres will only do VSG if there's a medical reason for RNY. I was quite certain I wanted VSG but now that I know more about the 2, i'm very happy to go with RNY.

I was referred last December. I have to have my second meeting with the doctor later this month, but I'm told to expect ~November-December which would make 1 year. (I'm in Windsor)

My Surgery date is in November so I will be 17 months from Orientation. I am on a cancellation should a sooner date come up then they will call me other wise its November 25, 2016 for RNY. I'm sure the time will fly by.
