Consumed with surgery and OH

I don't know if I am just getting anxious or if I am going crazy, but WLS seems to consume me lately.  I am constantly checking to see if there are new posts, constantly researching - I think I have read everything there is to read on the net. I buy different things like sugar free flavours to put in opti and I haven't even been prescribed opti yet!  I want to know what I like before the surgery so I can be prepared. Normally I am a prepared person and do my due dilligence regarding everything I take on but this time....wow, I really think I might have a problem.

Anyone else out there have this obsession? I really hope so or this is yet another problem I will have to take care of!

You are not alone.

I am on this site dozens of times a day. Reading different forums. Researching. Looking for new posts.

I think that I just REALLY want this. And I want to make this work for me and do the best I can.

You are not alone. I told the SW that the only part of the process I couldn't witness beforehand was the actual surgery, and if they would let me follow someone in on their surgery I would totally do it. I wanted to know how every little thing was going to go. I think one good aspect of that is that if you can follow through with your diligence (I like this word better than obsession ?), you will probably do very well after surgery.

Also, I'm just shy of my two-year surgiversary and I'm on here every day (except when traveling). I think it keeps me motivated and in the WLS mindset.

I think we have all done that in the beginning Lisa.  It is a big thing to first commit to surgery, and you want to be as informed as possible.  Once you commit you want to know what is in store in terms of hurdles so that there aren't any surprises.  And it gives you a glimpse of what your new life will be like.

Totally! I was/am the same!

my advice though is hold off on stocking up. As I'm sure you've read on here, a lot of people's taste buds change post op ( mine didn't). Also, i have a freezer full of food because I didn't really understand how many 1/4 cup servings are in a pot of black bean soup haha. You really don't need much post op.

Maybe you already are, but id suggest put that energy into practicing your post op behaviours now. No drinking with meals, cleaning out the pantry of foods you might be tempted by post op, food journaling etc. The more you do before surgery, the easier the adjustment is post op!

congratulations on your surgery! Such an exciting time!

Nothing wrong with being prepared. I did the same thing.

I do have to say most of the stuff I bought I didn't use. I still have bottles of liquid calcium. The sweetness of it made me sick. I got the ok from the center and bought a bunch of baby food for the puree stage. Seemed easier to me. I gave most of that away. I am 7 months out and I just started my protein shakes. I couldn't handle the smell of them. Lol
