3 weeks to go...

Surgery is in 3 weeks, not sure why, but it feels like a lifetime away, mind you my orientation was in November so it has really been about 7 months since I started this process.

Can anyone offer suggestions for the hospital bag?

Also, I am going away to a bed and breakfast about 4 weeks after my surgery, does this sound overly ambitious to anyone?

This is what I used (I took more and sent it home)

Bag:

toothbrush / toothpaste

brush / dry shampoo if you have unruly hair / clip / elastic

facial soap / or wash clothes you just add water to

deodorant

lip balm/ moisturizer

Extra underwear (i forgot this and went commando was often a challenge to stay covered as so many people look at your incisions)

slip on shoes (I used flip flops, wore them to hospital and used there and home)

big clothes to go home in (some recommend front closing bra)

pillow to hug or stuffed animal (for rolling out of bed and the bumpy car ride home)

other:

ear plugs (noise)

sleep mask (light)

sugar free lozenges (sore throat)

cell phone

book or music for distraction

pen and paper (for notes on follow-up, questions and for people to leave you a note if sleeping)

big jacket (I was cold and after IV is unhooked felt better than a double robe)

Good luck

As for the bed and breakfast, it is not ambitious, just be prepared with your protein and foods to take, enjoy.
