Hey - I have my surgery in less than 3 weeks. From the time I started I have been upfront with my family and friends. Some think I am CRAZY, mostly my friends who are in the same condition as me. Few are wholly unsupportive, actually only one, and we talk sporadically now. Most have been super supportive. My husband and kids have been great through the preparation - from December/16 to now. My teenagers are trying, but they really don't understand why I "NEED" this done. My husband is trying really hard. I think I am just super emotional right now.
My opinion, those who matter most (or should) will support you no question. Those who don't will either come around fast or not. At that point you can decide what energy to surround yourself with.
Best of Luck to you! This is an AMAZING journey but, like every good thing, it requires HARD work.
