Support or Lack Thereof

I am extremely lucky.

I have the support of my Doctor and my husband is now on board. He realizes that I am struggling. In fact, he brought home lettuce, tomatoes, chicken and various other healthy foods and has been helping me eat healthier and less. It didn't take much to gain his support and I thought it would be difficult because food is a big part of our lives. We were able to talk about our struggles with our lifestyle (extremely hectic) and our reliance on eating out and fast food. Together we have made an attempt to start changing our lifestyle so that we can (kind of) do this together.

I have told a couple of people that I have decided to go the surgery route and I have had nothing but hugs and smiles and offers of encouragement and support.

I am truly saddened to read posts where family members are not helpful or supportive. It just makes a really hard situation and decision even more difficult.

I'm so glad that you have a good support system, and that your husband is now on board.

So happy that you are getting the support that you need. It is really important. This is a hard road and takes a LOT of work.

Best of luck on your journey

I have tears in my eyes reading your post - lol. I become so inspired by those *****ceive support and encouragement and who are grateful for the opportunity we have all been given. I joke that members may roll their eyes at my positive comments, but I am sincere when I give encouragement, say thank you for what I receive from members on this site (and in my own world), and also feel saddened by those who don't receive the support they can use. I personally want to thank the thousands of Ontario taxpayers who have paid (through their taxes) the $20,000+ for me to have this surgery to help me improve my health. I know I won't be perfect, but I won't take such a big step lightly and continue to learn how to best use my new "tool".

I wish you all the best.
