completely petty, I know, BUT...

Since May 23 (first day of optifast) I have lost 25.2 lbs - plus some more over the months I was preparing for this surgery. BUT 25.2 IN A MONTH

I'm super short, so 25.2 on me is a lot of weight, and other than my husband, not one person has noticed.

I told my hubby and kids last night that I was going to buy a starbucks card and keep it in my purse, the first person to comment on my weight loss gets it! My daughter quickly yelled out 'wow mom, you've look like you've lost weight!' LOL. I told her immediate family doesn't count, but good try.

I know this is super petty. I get it. This process is for me and my health, but everyone likes to be complimented. Especially on something they are working hard on.

Rant over. And please, this is meant to be funny, not a true complaint.

Thanks! Yes I have moved into the next size down in my wardrobe, but in my head the last 50 lbs I packed on was just extra on top of the weight I was already struggling to get off. So until I am under 200 - I still feel the same. It is dumb - and super pessimistic of me, but sadly it is my struggle.

I am SO close now though...I can taste it -- but only one small spoonful at a time..LOL

Lol oh I hear ya! It might be petty but it does kind of hurt to. I believe it's noticeable but sometimes people don't know how to say you've lost weight. It's usually a touchy subject. Also if people are struggling with their weight they might not find joy in your success.

25.2 lbs!!! Woohoo - forget buying a Starbucks card for someone else, go get yourself a pedicure or manicure to celebrate you!!! LOL It takes forever for people to notice or say anything. Trust me, someone is noticing but just scared to say something without offending you. They might compliment your hair or something else. It does feel nice when you get those compliments though. They'll come! Just give it time.

I am going to play a bit of devil's advocate (maybe not term) but since you didn't tell anyone about the surgery another reason for losing a significant amount of weight in a short period is when a person has cancer. People may notice but be scared it is that something is wrong and they don't feel comfortable bringing up that subject.

People will eventually start complimenting you, especially as you get more of a glow about you and how you carry yourself changes.

Keep up the great work and I agree with the other post that said you should treat yourself!

I was so relieved when you said the post was meant to be a bit funny, because I had a bit of a chuckle as I was reading. I was imagining you, soooo happy someone had complimented you in your weight loss, that balloons fell out of the sky, flashing lights started strobing, and you handed an unsuspecting person their Starbucks gift card, beaming with joy, their look of confusion more and more apparent!!!

But I digress!!! (Sometimes I really just need to amuse my overactive mind!)

I do seriously get the frustration of losing all that weight and no one noticing. A few years ago, I lost a bunch of weight, and right around the 40 lb mark was when everyone started noticing. It takes a while!! I'm heavier now than that starting point, so I figure it may take even longer this time.... who knows!

Keep us posted on who wins your gift card, oh, and how they react!! Can I bring the balloons?!

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Choose happy.

thanks for that, I definitely chuckled.

I remember one time years ago losing a ton of weight at the same time my husband did, whenever we were in social situations people were going nuts over HIS change. HELLO - I'm here too!!! LOL

I am laughing at both you and Lucille; better to laugh than cry at someone else's behaviour or lack thereof.

I said the same thing to my husband. I've lost more than 50 lbs. and have heard very few comments. He told me that the Deputy Fire Chief told him that I looked great, but not to tell me in case I was offended. My daughter's filterless friend said WTF when she saw me. Translated I think that means "You look wonderful!"

Those close to us know of our journey and may be the only ones who feel comfortable enough to provide us with positive feedback. You are doing extremely well. Congratulations and continued success.
