I have read some posts about Ohio paying for bypass surgery but only pays for sleeve in certain cir****tances. These were older posts (2014) I am wondering if it has changed at all .

Ohip pays for the sleeve only if deemed medically necessary by your surgeon.

They better because I am not giving up trying to walk and get knee surgery --- I need my NSAIDS and other meds.

Jo, I've definitely heard of VSG being approved for those with a lifelong need for NSAIDs. I don't think you have anything to worry about :)

Yes, OHIP covers the sleeve, but you cannot pick between sleeve and rny. They will do the sleeve on you if you need to take NSAIDS, have acid reflux, etc.

Acid reflux is usually a reason to not get VSG. It often gets worse after being sleeved and is often resolved with RNY.

Yes, exactly. I wanted the sleeve due primarily to need for knee pain medication but since I've had bad heartburn issues and an endoscopy showed I have GERD I cannot have sleeve surgery and need a RYN instead despite my knee issues.
