scary moment day 6 post op

I have been felling pretty good minus the day 6 post op tenderness, and fatigue, but this afternoon while lying on my sofa drinking my protein all that changed for about an hour . I got super warm, and felt weak, and nauseous, my head started hurting, and then I began to get emotional because I was scared.

I started thinking people die after having this surgery so I had better get myself together and get some help.

I was stuck feeling too weak to get up and dress or anything. I thought of calling 911 , and felt silly. So I just lay there until it passed about 45 minutes later and got myself some cold water and lay back down.

Has anyone had this type of issue days after surgery ?

I have been averaging 64-70 oz of water a day and 60 grams of protein.

Only had a pudding cup so far today , but plan to have some soup soon.

Any advice would be welcome..

My suggestion would be to NOT lay down while drinking or eating. Make sure youre not putting any extra strain on your pouch. Sit or stand up straight. Could have possibly been dumping as well. Watch the ingredients

Phew or Pew...not sure but glad you narrowed it down.

Events like you experienced can be scary...until you start understanding what your body/pouch is telling you.

Oh the bowel issues.... yes, I know those. I haven't felt like that from it, but do watch and take care of yourself. It may have been that... but if it repeats itself, don't write it off.

Take good care!!!

Oh my that sounds very scary! I'm glad you are ok and it seems to have resolved itself but as OAAT said, keep an eye out and call the nurse if it crops up again.

That is scary - but I'm glad you figured out what it was. Definitely let your medical team know if that happens again

Terry,

You know my story and that all happened at 3wks post op! So if you dont feel well again Id call someone for sure and let them know!

Thats how I got into such a state, laying down, taking tylonol and gravol and saying " tm will be better". Landed me in Emerg!

Better safe than sorry and nothing is "silly" when it comes to health concerns! It can go south in a hurry!

Take good care!
