Good Morning Everyone,

I'll admit I weigh myself everyday. It helps keep me on track.

I am finding that since surgery, my weight does not fluctuate at all (and I like that!). It either stays the same or goes down. This has not been my experience before at all! I was always all over the place with my weight. Anybody else experiencing this?

I know I've said it before (about other things post surgery) but I hope it stays this way forever!!

I try to weigh myself only once a week. I believe you are just over a month out so this is your time to be dropping a lot of weight. In a few months things will slow down and you won't be dropping the weight as quickly. I had a 7 week stall for month 5 and 6 and if I weighed myself daily I would have went nuts. Do what works for you and if weighing in daily doesn't make you crazy go for it.

Hi Tuktu,

Thanks for your insight! I always find that most people at this site that have had some experience post surgery are really great at sharing their experiences. I expect stall also, but for now I am enjoying every minute of losing weight.

Thanks,

Barb

I am also guilty! I am an everyday weigher. For the most part, I haven't seen any fluctuations...only downward. But I think that changes later on?

But I do have little stalls (that probably can't even be considered a stall) where I will stay the same weight for a week. Usually followed by a 2 lb drop over the following week.

So far I am so happy that it has been consistent. And so thankful that I had the courage to do this surgery for myself.

Yes. I believe it is a courageous thing for sure. Congratulations on making the decision and following through with it. I know that times will get more challenging the more months and years that past. I think it is really great though that for now you have not experienced a fluctuation in your weight. You are definitely doing things right.

I'm a mostly everyday weigher too, although I sometimes skip a few days here and there. My official weigh in day is Wednesday morning, and I never miss that. I only count the weight loss on Wednesdays.

For the first several months i was like you, Barb, and my weight only went down, no fluctuations. It was wonderful. Now I'm almost 9 months post op and the fluctuations are back, but it only goes up or down by 1-2 Lbs. It's not fun, and I hate that it's back but I retain water and if I eat something with a higher salt content, if it's too hot out, etc., my weight will go up for a bit. I still like weighing more than once a week, to keep an eye on things. I find it helpful because it keeps me mindful. I was in denial about my weight a lot pre op. I mean, I knew what i weighed and I knew what i looked like but actively avoided looking in anything other than the bathroom mirror, which only shows my face. It was too depressing because it made me feel hopeless. Yesterday I was in a shop and I came upon a full length mirror suddenly and braced myself like i used to and was surprised that the lady in the mirror was actually new me, and not the old me. I forget sometimes, lol. I'm so glad I had surgery.

What a fantastic reply Kathy! Thank you for your honesty and sharing your feelings with us. I too know what it feels like to be in denial about how my body looks (looked). I am really really happy for you. Keep sharing and giving back. It is such an inspiration to all of us!

I am still pre-op but I've made changes and continue to lose weight.

I weigh every day at the same time but I am not obsessive about it.

For some reason, this time it feels different. I have had stalls and I have bounced around up and down. One or two lbs up and then down.

On average, I'm losing 10 lbs per month but what I have noticed is that I lose in spurts. I have stalls where nothing happens and then boom, I'm down a lb for 4 consecutive days and then it levels off and away we go again.

The good news is that I'm learning how my body works and I don't get freaked out if I don't lose for a couple of weeks. I know I'm losing and it will all add up as I go along.

Weighing every day helps me stay on track too.
