Good morning everyone. I hope that you all had a good weekend. Last night we went to dinner at our friend's house. We had a wonderful night of laughing and playing cards. I've been stressed lately because of Dad and just laughing with friends was such good medicine.

This morning I'm going swimming, and then meetings, paperwork, chores and errands.

3 years post-op

B. Protein coffee, lots of decaf throughout the day.

L. Avocado stuffed with spicy shrimp salad.

D. Rotisserie chicken, butternut squash, dipping sauce.

S. SKYR yogurt with ED Smith SF Apricot Jam and Chia Seeds, Turkey breast deli rollups with Kraft Philly Whipped Jalapeno Cream Cheese.

BB. Protein cocoa

Totals: 977, carbs. 63, Fat 41, Prot. 105

Good morning :)

Puppy 1 was up through the night sick so I didn't get a lot of sleep. She wouldn't settle back down after I cleaned up. I think she thought it was time to get up and play. So work is going to be a drag today. I have a meeting late this afternoon so I have to prep for that. Our weekend was good. DH got up a lot of Christmas lights and we had lunch with friends yesterday.

Post-op two years, eight months.

Breakfast - protein bar

Snack - peanut butter

Lunch - meat sauce

Snack - pepperette and cheese

Dinner - tbd

Snack - protein shake if needed

All water and vits.

Meg I hope she sleeps well tonight. Maybe take her out in the yard and give her a good workout when you get home. My dog used to stand at the top of the stairs when he was going to be sick. I think he did it on purpose so that I would have to clean each step, lol.

Good morning,

I woke up Saturday morning with a terrible sore throat, I headed to the Dr . for a throat swap which was positive for strep. I am on antibiotics waiting for them to kick in. It is taking longer to feel better I wonder if it is the malabsorption. What have your experiences been with antibiotics post surgery?

No actual eating happening, just herbal teas, broth and protein shakes. I am way below my protein target but I am trying.

Oh no, that sucks. If you have a Popeye's Nutrition near you, call and ask if they have the Cool Whey protein icecream. It has good stats and it would be easy on your throat. Maybe frozen Greek Yogurt pops. PC has a caramel Greek Yogurt pop.

Good morning everyone! Can't wait for Christmas holidays, this coming to work every day sucks! Hit the gym first thing, back in the groove. I tend not to go on the weekends and since I was off last Thursday and Friday I didn't go then either.

Had colonoscopy last Friday and I'm clear now for four more years. YAY! That was my third year in a row so I'm glad to get a reprieve for a few years.

My Trucker came home yesterday morning so things are back to normal. Now to get the eating back to routine as well.

B - 1 egg, 1/4 cup egg whites, slice of cheese

S - greek yogurt

L - beer can chicken, tomato/cuke salad with greek dressing

S - deli turkey, mustard, cheese slice

D - grilled chicken, broccoli salad

Total Cal 838, Protein 105, Carbs 37

Over 100 lbs lost! and 13 lbs below goal weight!

Ginny I'm glad that everything came back clear. That has to be such a relief.

Tell Trucker he has to spoil you right up until Christmas. Tell him CC said so. When he says who the hell is CC, just laugh (but make it a maniacal laugh).

OH blog today about labelling foods good and bad! Great read! Less guilt more on choosing a well rounded diet for life and creating a sustainable program to enjoy life while still maintaining weightloss. We have all lost weight over and over but how do we keep it off? That is my worry.. according to Bariatric Surgeons after 5 years WLS tool is less effective and a sustainable lifestyle program is the key. Thoughts???

I've just read the blog, and these are my thoughts. Do you think that the dietician has ever had a weight problem? Having read the What Are You Eating thread for years I have seen many that do have trigger foods. These foods are usually salty or sweet snack foods. They seem to set a person off on a binge of eating crap.

For newly post-ops (first 12-18 months) I would recommend using the small pouch you have to eat protein first (you're losing weight rapidly and this will help preserve muscle and aid in healing) then if you have room to eat lower carb veg and fruits. Anyone *****ads my posts knows that I love a kale salad with a small amount of apple sliced into it. I eat avocado regularly.

For the newly post-op I say use your honeymoon phase to the fullest. Get off as much weight as possible because it does get much harder. Choose wisely what you put in your pouch. In all likelihood you never had a healthy relationship with certain foods when you became obese. I consider myself a food addict. I could easily just eat the things that got me obese in the first place. Being a little selfi****end to stick with what is working for me, because I never want to go back to where I was before surgery. i listen to the vets that have figured out how to maintain their weight loss for years. Ones that know my struggle, and have been obese themselves. They generously give their time and advice so that we don't have to stumble.

When you were obese and told to just eat a healthy diet what stopped you from doing that? For me it was food addiction. I have to stay vigilant because regain scares the hell out of me.

Those are my thoughts for what they are worth.

I agree and here are some more thoughts...I was speaking to an eating disorder specialist and we discussed the phenomenon of trigger foods... so real.. for me oreos and gummies but put cheesecake in front of me and I can have a bite and stop. Trigger foods effect your dopamine receptors like crack but they also trigger psychological memories, attachments and feelings.

When I said a well rounded diet and what I think she meant was adding fruits, vegetables and whole grains.. I mean I can't add hot garlic bread .... another trigger for me because I will eat the entire loaf.

My saying is I am a gummy bear away from a binge.... I agree with the honeymoon phase but I also think that it is then when you can establish a healthy well rounded eating plan and if you do go off course learn how to reign it in before that falling off the wagon thing gets big like pre- pre op.

TWH sets up a very well rounded program.

Sorry that's my 3 cents
