So many of you are about to start this new journey. You are in the Optifast phase and soon comes the big day. I was sitting here thinking about you all and remember being were you are almost 4 weeks ago.

I am so excited for you all and no matter the question we are here for you. I am still learning everyday myself. Why did this happen or what is this about? It' all part of the process and I look forward to watching you all on your journey!

I keep saying this but... pack. Tp, shakes, tic tacs, undies, personal whipes.

You all got this!

Thank you for your thoughts, encouragement and advice. No one understands this like the people on this forum. My family is supportive but wary and worried for me.

I'm quite a bit older than most who have this surgery. I'm 60 and retired but I'm tired of being inside my shell. I want to smile when someone takes my photo. Onward!

Referred January 7/17, Orientation Humber May 28/17, Meet Dr. August 4/17, TRIO November 3/17, Internist November 21/17, Surgeon again December 21/17, Pre-op assessment January 4/18 and Surgery January 12/18.

It is never to late Leslie.

There is always risk with any medical care but the odds are in your favor and there are risk if you do nothing as well. I had issue but I am here and well now eating Popcicle at 7am. Lol I love Dole sugar free orange and strawberries pops.

My family had concerns for me as well but are very supportive.

If this is giving you a chance of a better life while you are still here and you have done your homework and made your own descion then we are here for you!

I am still a newbie but this forum and the people on it has been vital to me.

You are going to do great! Here is to many smiling photos!

Hello Leslie,

I'm 55 and I have never felt better. 9 months out and I'm feeling like I'm in my 30's - chasing after little ones (grandchildren this time), running (literally) up and down the stairs and feel more like myself then I did in years. The extremely overweight, out-of-shape, tired, sore me that I had become was NOTHING like me. I'm back to being Linda. No worries. Like most say, it was indeed the best thing I have ever done for myself. Looking good is just the beneficial bi-product of FEELING good.

And I am one of the freaks who actually liked Opti! All the best to you all.

Linda

Thank you for the kind words, RoundPenny! I am scheduled for January 16th :)

I am stressing a bit about tying up loose ends at work/home and making sure I know what the heck I'm doing in all of this lol! I'm second guessing the food phases, vitamins, et****ep reading the manual and packets. It is going to be a huge journey.

I am thankful for the forum, because like Leslie said, no one can quite fully understand this process.

Best to everyone with surgery upcoming! I am excited for you all!

Thank you Roundpenny.

I'm excited and yet worried as well. I know it won't be a walk in the park. I have great support so I know it will all be OK.

Funnily enough, I feel quite emotional these days. Not mad, not sad, but I get teary. I'm not sure why, but I am sure it will pass.

Looking forward to surgery and finding the new me.
