hi everyone, happy New year. I have been looking at the new OHIP wait time website and it says some Hospitals in Toronto has little wait time like 30 days for the surgery....it's that true?

That makes sense. I heard you can pay for some of the appointments like the dietician and social Worker out of pocket to speed up the process. I hope you get your surgery date soon.

Hi Jen,

The surgical process through OHIP takes an average of 12 to 18 months, depending on the Centre you go through. None of the portions are self pay.

Depending on your centre, and your schedule, you can speed your process up. This board is super helpful in finding members who can give you tips on how to speed up your process. I went through Toronto Western Hospital, and I got great advice from people, and I was able to get my surgery in about 4 months!!!

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. Choose happy.

I am also having surgery at Toronto Western at the end of February, my first appointment (3 months after referral) was November 2016, had my last appointment June 2017, surgeon Oct. 2017, but I think times can vary a lot depending on cir****tances, I was hoping for surgery in the fall, but am just looking forward to getting onto the next stage now.

Thank you for your information. You are almost there. I am considering out of country as well.
