Need help, advice and a kick in the pants

Hi All, and happy new year.

I have completely fell off the wagon. I have gained back 8 pounds. During Christmas I did an incredible amount of baking and got hooked on sugar. I thought after Christmas I can get right back on track. Then I was off work for a month and on vacation. Well, needless to say, I did not get back on track.

I need help, advice whatever it takes to get back to where I was and go forward in the proper manner. Can any of you out there help me? I can take the good and the bad feed back, bring it on, hopefully it will give me the kick in the pants I need.

For instance I have cleared my apartment of all yummy treats and sugar. But I was craving it so much tonight I grabbed baking chocolate and ate a half cup of that!

Desperately needing to hear I can get back to where I was. Please help.

Thank you.

Struggling? Give yourself some grace. You are human. Begin again and take out your program that you were given from your program. . Look at it and live it again. Throw all the processed stuff out, focus on protein first again and vegetables second.

Use myfitnesspal and make yourself accountable again. We are often thinking that we aren't eating much when we actually are once we make ourselves accountable for every lick, bite and taste.

Go back to your support group meetings if you have one.

Don't hesitate to call your centre and see who you need to see --- dietician, social workers etc.

We are all different. If you have an eating disorder then look into therapy.

Most of the time though we need to go back to the habits that helped us lose the weight. We slack over time and go back to our old ways.

If you need a support group like weigh****chers or TOPS try that.

Look for programs from your nearby eating disorder place, mental health has programming too and health units.

Try new things. You never know what will motivate you. The important part is to KEEP TRYING.

Be honest. Talk about it. In support groups too. The honesty with yourself and others is important. You are not perfect and you don't have to be. The more we share when we are struggling the more we can support one another. Find mentors.

Remember too that keeping off anymore can be just as important as losing.

I'm 11 years out and there can be times that I struggle too. "Moderation" is very tricky for many of us and doesn't come innately. It's a struggle and sometimes it's day by day. You're worth it!!!

Thank you for taking the time to type this out. I know I am worth it! I think I am going to start by preparing meals the day before this may keep me accountable. And start tracking again.

thanks again.

You cannot "reset" your pouch. That test is a load of BS.

Go back to basics, the way you SHOULD be eating. All protein, low carb, get all of your fluids in.

That article is the biggest load of crap I've ever read. Total bullcrap. The authors should be embarrassed to have their name put on it. They don't allow comments on that "article," or I'd give them some.

The Pouch Reset was invented long ago by some on this site. She created it to sell stuff to gullible people.

Follow the postop plan. Dense protein, no sugars or starches. Don't drink during or after meals, don't drink calories, ever. Do that, and be successful.

A pouch CANNOT be reset. Only our brains can.

Your intent was honest enough, thank you for replying with the advice you gave. It is up to me to research, hear other opinions and decide whether what to do with it. I appreciate it nonetheless.

Thanks Lisa, you are awesome. It truly was just something I had heard about, and I know you are struggling (which I hate to hear) so I was just trying to help.

No worries though, as 'newbies' we are still learning.

I really wish you the best in getting back on track.
