I have my pre-op appointment in the morning. I believe I meet the anesthesiologist via video link but not sure what else happens. Just wanted to ask what others have experienced.

I've got my Pre-op tomorrow, will be interested to see if anyone has any comments, I'm going down to TWH as I figured from past experience it was best to go in person for this. I also must meet the anesthesiologist and I know they want to do an ECG but not sure about anything else, I've taking all my latest reports in case they didn't get something.

Woohoo, you're on your way!

My experience was different so I can't tell you what to expect. My surgical center is a 10 hour drive from my house because I live up North, so I had to fly to Toronto for my preop meeting and I met the entire team and got my optifast, all in one day. I met the nurse first, who measured and weighed me and then I met the surgeon, who told me what to expect and answered any questions I may have. I also met the anesthesiologist, the pharmacist, had bloodwork and an EEG (EKG?) done (the one where they check you heart; I can never remember the right acronyms), saw the nurse again, and was given a zillion handouts and instructions for my 3 weeks of opti and what to do the night before surgery.

Pre-Op Visit: Jan. 10, 2017, weight 304, surgeon: Dr. David Lindsay, St. Joe's, Toronto

1st Day of (3 weeks worth of) Optifast: Jan. 11, 2017

Surgery Date: Feb. 1st, 2017

Thanks! That's pretty similar to what happened at mine but I had my ecg two weeks ago. It was good to know what to expect generally.

I just got home.

It lasted about 30 minutes.

I met with a nurse *****viewed my medical history, gave me pre-op instructions (no eating after midnight), and told me where to go and what to expect day of.

She weighted and measured me.

Then I had bloodwork.

She did say that it was quick because I'm not on any meds, and don't really have much medical history to discuss.
