Surgery Done and back home!

Hi All, had my surgery Friday morning at 8 and was back home by late Saturday afternoon. The worst part about it all is that anesthesia does not agree with me. They tried to combat the effects but it didn't work. Woke up in recovery with the dry heaves off and on for a few hours and boy did it hurt, remember thinking in my groggy state 'WTF did I do to myself'! Ended up staying in recovery until late afternoon while the effects wore off. Actually amazed that I felt okay to go home on Saturday but doctor wants to check up on me on Monday. Definately feeling much better today but have a persistent cough, anyone else have that? It is a trial to get all the fluid and protein in and I am definately not meeting targets but I'm sure it will get much better everyday. At what point did most of you start feeling really good?

It get's better every day, I started feeling pretty good by day 4, just have to be careful about doing too much, feeling fine forget to take tylenol start to hurt. If you were good at getting your fluids in presurgery you'll probably get up there by day 4-5, good luck with the Protein Shakes.

Thanks Michelle, I have been very lucky and have not had to take anything for pain since yesterday afternoon. I live north of Lindsay and find it interesting the different hospitals people go to who live in the same area. It's almost like its a random draw!

Have you heard anything about any support group that meets in the Lindsay area? I had someone mention they thought there was a group that met on Wednesdays at the Grand in Lindsay but havent been able to find any details. So far most of my support has come from online, as well as a local restaurant owner that my husband and I frequent who had the surgery a couple of years ago.

No, I have heard about nothing in the area. Support / resource has all been online.

That is great you were able to head home early! Signs of a great recovery even with the dry heaves. I had them as well for three days. Not fun but it does wear off and you soon forget about them.

Welcome to the bench!

That's awesome you were able to go home so quickly.

I'm 5 days post-op and I definitely feel the best today. I've been out walking, but still making sure to rest.

It took me until day 4 to even come close to the fluid/protein targets. Today is the first day I'll hit them.

Hope your our recovery continues to go well!

Congrats! Fluids is he most important part, when I got enough in I felt WAY better. Day five was when I started feeling pretty good.
