I just had surgery at Humber 9 days ago and post op day of recovery was the worst but every day after that just keeps getting better. No pain meds required after day 2 and clothes fit better already! Good Luck!!!!!

Since you were at Humber can you give me a rundown of you day?

I've never had any surgery before so any things I can kind of picture/be prepared for as far as what I will do tomorrow would be super helpful.

Whats done prior? When do you have to separate from your loved ones? How soon after were they allowed to see you?

I was at Humber too. You register and at that time they told my husband where to wait and how to track me. They also gave him a badge that said he was allowed to be where he waited. I also said I would prefer a private room and would pay the difference and wanted my husband to stay in the room, they said ok. I changed into the gown and put all my stuff in a bag. I had left everything of value with my husband. We went to a pre surgery cubicle where I had the IV inserted. The anesthesiologist came to see me to go over meds again and give me some starter pain killers which I needed a bit of water to swallow. The resident came and said hello. When the time came I walked into the operating room myself and climbed onto the table. I thought this was odd but I guess they don't want anyone to drop us because of our weight. The dr and resident were not there and the anesthesiologist had to phone them to get in there. When they arrived, they put the mask on me and I woke up in recovery. I was taken to my bed and I think I had to shift myself onto it. My husband was back at this point. I loved, loved the hospital bed. It was self adjusting to where it felt I needed support. It was like an adjustable cloud. I brought my own pillow.

I had pain and needed oxygen. The nurses were fantastic. When I finally had to pee it hurt a lot to get up and it was good to have my husband there to pull me up. I stayed two nights because one incision kept bleeding. I finally had it stitched and I went home. Smooth sailing. Humber is a great hospital. You are in good hands. Everything will go well.

My experience was very similar to Lesley. My surgery was scheduled for 8 but I had to stay in post op recovery until late afternoon because anesthesia does not agree with me. I did not ask for a private room but that is what I was given. I was released from Humber the next day at 2. The staff was great and very helpful. You are in good hands.
