Hi everyone, I'll be starting my 2 weeks of optifast on Monday (April 16/2018). I was wondering if any of you have any tips or tricks that helped you through the process? Do you have things you bought or used that helped you drink the opti? Thank you all! This formula has been a great help.

Spacing them out is key!! Also adding flavor to them! I am on day 16/21, surgery is on April 17th.

Like most have said the first couple of days were rough, but then I started adding sugar/calorie free syrup to my shakes and I love them!

I don't mind the chocolate on its own but the vanilla is barely tolerable. I have only had 3 servings of jello besides the shakes and I am doing well!

Winner's & Home Sense carry Jordan's Skinny Syrup's in different flavors, right now I am using the Caramel, Mint Chocolate & Raspberry...all three flavors go great with both the chocolate & vanilla shakes!

Good Luck!!!

A tsp of benefibre in each shake from the start. This prevents constipation and diarrhea.

I liked the vanilla mixed with cold decaf coffee. For every shake I would put cold water into my cup and put it in the freezer for about a half hour then mix and drink. I was lucky that I didn't mind the optifast at all which I'm happy about as I had to do 3 weeks.

Good luck.

I mixed the vanilla with hot decaf. Made the morning feel real.

Frozen made them so much better for me. I only got chocolate. So I would make them with decaf instant coffee as well as flavorings. My fave was Banana. (so banana/chocolate/coffee) But I also got rum extract, vanilla, orange and hazelnut.

I also agree. Had the benefibre at the start. My balance was in 2 of my shakes daily.

For me the first few shakes were the WORST. But they do then grow on you. So if your drinking the first few and thinking OMG. It does get better.

I drank mine around 7am, noon, 5pm, 9pm (give or take an hour).

I got a blender bottle, and just mixed them with cold water and lots of ice. I also went to Bulk Barn and bought several flavours of extract (caramel and peppermint were my favorites).

You get through it, within a few days it was routine and I was fine.

I found that they tasted better SUPER cold.

Also, I liked the vanilla mixed with a few drops of Crystal light Aloha Pineapple flavour, it makes it taste like a pina colada, and thus made it feel like a 'treat'.

Like everyone else it gets better after a few days, spacing is important, I did 6:30, 11:00, 3:00 and around 7:00 I had to adjust as I found I really didn't want one later in the evening so had 2 at work during the day, they usually jello as a 9 pm snack. Also definitely add benefibre to morning shake. I found the chocolate palatable, but occasionally added peppermint extract I had left over from Christmas, although normally I really like vanilla the Opti vanilla was not appealing I ended up mixing in a tsp of cocoa to confuse myself. But it's whatever works for you, the time will soon pass and you'll be thinking that was easy as you didn't have to worry about what to eat or count anything.

Peppermint extract was a godsend for me.

I had some stomach upset while on Opti and some added peppermint really seemed to settle my stomach. It also added a bit of kick as well.

I bought caramel extra. It really transformed the flavour and eliminated the aftertaste. I absolutely hated the optifast until I added the extract.

Good luck!
