7 months since surgery

Hi Everyone!

It's been 7 months since I've had surgery, and to date I have lost 80 pounds, I am size small (size 6) on top and a size medium (size 8) on the bottom. I am the same weight today as I was (give or take 3-4 pounds) in my 20's and most of my 30's. It feels great! I would like to lose some more weight though, as I am technically still "overweight" according to my bmi. I will keep you posted!

I am losing at a much slower pace now. I am lifting weights 3x a week, walking every day, and recently added yoga/pilates. I am loving how my body feels - mostly strong! I have never felt so strong and fit in my life (and I grew up as a dancer and then aerobic instructor) - stronger and more fit than I was in my early life, and I am 56 years old now. This surgery has given me my life back.

As far as food goes, I found the first 5 months fairly easy with no complications. The past few months I have had challenges though. Stalls are common as well as cravings especially for sweets. I am however, finding out that I am fuller sooner, so that is a good thing.

All in all things are great. I have included a pic - sorry for the quality. Something is wrong with my phone!!

Wow your transformation is amazing! Sounds like you are in a great place right now. I love watching your posts as I am only a few years behind you and have about the same amount of weight to lose. You definitely give me hope! I can't imagine looking like that in 7 months. Based in your post I definitely need to increase my exercise.

I started walking the minute I woke up in the hospital. I have tried to walk every day since.

Ididn't start lifting weights until month 4 - and I took it really easy - not doing too much. It wasn't until about 5 and a half months that I really started taking the weight lifting seriously and it was only because I was beginning to see fantastic results. I work with a trainer and he really encourages me. I don't think I would be as satisfied with my weight loss results as much if I hadn't been lifting weights at the same time - it's the weight lifting that is really transforming my body. As I said in my post, I have been this weight before, but never in such fit shape (even though I danced and taught aerobics). It makes a huge difference in how you carry your body and how clothes fall on you.

I definitely would recommend weight lifting with a personal trainer if you can swing it. Let me know how it goes.

Great advice. I am usually really active during the summer but come the fall I think a gym membership and trainer are definitely in my future!

THANK YOU SMOKA for your update! It really encourages me! I'm almost identical to your start weight and the things you did in your life. I also was a lifeguard so did LOTS and LOTS of swimming. I can hardly wait for my upcoming surgery date. I'm doing the sleeve.

Fantastic! You must be so excited. I know when I was waiting for surgery, the only way I hung on was to read other people's successes daily!...so I completely understand and I am so happy to be an inspiration to others. Swimming is great. You are about to feel awesome again!!
