Disappointed

So my wait just got longer....boo! I got home on Friday to get a letter from the Hamilton clinic changing my SW appointment for the second time, first it was May 18th to July 9th, and now it's to Aug. 2nd. This is frustrating, as I had everything ready family medical/ diet history.

Don't get discouraged. I know it's a blow. However! there is light at the end of the tunnel. Try calling them for cancellations. It could be that particular SW is swamped with appointments. That doesn't mean that another one isn't available.

Best of luck

I asked about that but they don't have a cancellation list, or another available SW. They said they will keep me in mind if there is a cancellation.

Thank you for the well wishes.

I had delays in getting in to see the Social Worker too, the one I was supposed to see went on Mat leave early, then it took them a while to get it rebooked. ended up being the last person I saw and was approved 2 weeks later, of course in my case it took another 8 months to actually get surgery, but hopefully you won't have to wait that long

Keep calling them on a weekly basis. Almost to the point where they know who you are by your voice alone.

I don't think any of the clinics actually have a "list" that they keep on hand for cancellations. If your clinic does, kudos for them (Hamilton didn't pffft) Just be persistent.

Well, isn't this embarrassing! You are going through Hamilton. Why did I think otherwise (shame on me). I called for a cancellation at one point and got my dietician apt (if I remember correctly) moved up by a whole month!

Hi,

I know things can be disappointing, but you will be having your surgery before you know it. I went through Hamilton and really just let them know who I was by calling a lot and talking to all of the people there and basically being pleasantly persistent. I had problems too and it was looking like my surgery was going to be delayed for a least another 6 months (it was unbearable****il things just turned around and I got in on a cancellation. All the best to you. Btw - what does "SW" mean?

Hey RS - call them but at the same time remember to be upbeat and polite. Recently I ran into someone who was waiting on an appt and she proudly told me "I chewed them out" when they couldn't accommodate her. Those people at reception and on the phones are part of the team that are taking care of you and deserve our respect and gratitude.

current BMI 24.7 that, my friends, is NORMAL!!! Strong is the new pretty!

I understand that it is not the receptionist fault at all....I will check in with them weekly on Monday's, but usually I have to leave a voicemail as they don't seem to answer the phones directly anyway.
