Having my gallbladder removed next week...

hello friends,

ive gotten gallstones and need to get my gallbladder removed- fun times. I understand it's Day surgery but did anyone end up staying overnight? If so, why? I'm at HUMBER RIVER. I am 7 months post op and am down 105 lbs The last 5 were painfully slow to come off!

I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago. I had it done on a Friday at 9:00 am. I was home in my living room by 1:00 pm. If they would have let me go sooner I'd have been home by noon. I never had to take meds for pain and I was back to work Monday morning at 9:00 am.

You will feel soooooo much better once it's out.

No idea. It was 9 years ago!!! My stay was from a sunday to thursday. Waited until the wednesday for the surgery #freehealthcare lol. Ill be thinking of you

I have to have mine out as well. My family doc referred me to a local surgeon so I'm waiting for that appointment. I am at the Hamilton clinic next week so I will let them know then. Not sure if they will take over or not. I hope it is just day surgery. I hate staying in the hospital. Is it your clinic doing your surgery? Good luck.

Hi yes my clinic is doing my surgery. Actually the same doctor who did my RNY is doing this surgery as well.

i had mine out July last summer, woke up from a dead sleep thought i was dying. Rushed to emergency room and they admitted me and jacked me up with morphine and i seen local surgeon a few hours later. They kept me 4 days and had me on antibiotics and pain control and took it out on day 5 was told it was 2 times the size it should have been and i was full of stones and sludge. I had my gall bladder removed at 10 am and brought to room around 1 and fell asleep local surgeon came by to see me to discharge and i was out cold so i spent the night and was discharged in the morning
